Just caught up with Ep. 2 last night. Harrowing. Awesome. And it seems that it's becoming a Frank Darabont Cavalcade of Stars. Which is a-OK with me. Just no Michael Clark Duncan.
Oh...and Sherrif Good Guy is not quite as hot as Deput Sheriff I'll F*CK Your Wife While You're In A Coma.
The show has been renewed for a second season. I'd be much happier if they'd green-light RUBICON for a season two!
I know somebody who works on Rubicon. Initially I heard rumors about casting calls already happening but still no word yet. To soothe anxieties, AMC still has not yet officially renewed Mad Men Season 5 and people expect that back (although a lot of speculation it will be at a later date).
Badge Dale has said that they have until December to let him know.
Did anyone get a chance to catch the British zombie series Dead Set? They aired the whole series on IFC on Halloween and I just watched the whole thing on DVR last night. It follows the contestants of Big Brother 9 as the "zombie apocalypse" breaks out.
I thought it was great...scary, suspenseful, gruesome...just really well done all around. Not sure if it's going to air again, but if you get a chance you should definitely catch it!

i hate to threadjack my own threa.. haha.. but FYI... AMC canceled Rubicon today...
That's a shame, though a bit unsurprising with rumors of new programs getting picked up by AMC left and right, and the ratings weren't there. I really liked the cast. It ended on a sour note in the finale imo (and really disappointed over Miranda Richardson's character's payoff). Still I don't think it was not given enough time.
And to further threadjack, Mad Men's time schedule for Season 5 will begin exactly as it has before in July (there was some speculation that Jon Hamm would have a heavy docket doing movies that would have pushed the date back).
Almost caught up on The Walking Dead. So brilliant! I agree that the zombie apocalypse story is much more powerful as a series. And like Battlestar Galactica, the show is more than its genre, creating just a good a drama as any other on TV.
I thought this last episode was the best since the pilot, even if it deviated from the source material big time. There was some news that Darabont fired the writing staff (but of course, not Robert Kirkman). Darabont had tension with the staff and out of the six he has two writing credits for the teleplay and was behind several re-writes of episodes not written by him. Now who he can get to work with him is another story since sorting the kinks out in a 6 episode season is different from the ordered 13.
I thought the finale last night was great. It's going to be a long wait until October for the next season to start
Spoiler alert...
I really liked the sequence where they showed the effects of the "zombie virus" on the brain. Creepy!
Enjoyed the finale, especially the Dylan song at the end. Agree about the sequence on the brain effects. And boy, oh boy about Shane and Lori.

I love how they flashbacked to the zombies taking over the hospital... that was some great stuff and it was good to see just how tense the situation was at the time with Shane... makes you feel bad for him with the whole Lori thing... but damn him for almost raping her!!!
and i don't know about you guys... but this show is making me really want to learn how to use a crossbow!! haha

I just watched the first season on dvd. OMG this is my favorite new show. Unfortunately i don't get AMC so I'll have to wait till dvd for Season 2. This show has excellent writing and acting. And most of all for a horror series, many touching scenes that brings tears to your eyes. **** SPOILER***** I'm suprised that none of you discussed what the doctor whispered in Rick's ear. I believe when he did his blood tests, he told Rick his wife is pregnant.
Why wait for the season 2 DVD? Go to www.ch131.com and watch it the night it airs. Pretty much every TV show is uploaded right after it airs.

Jordan, I just have basic cable and HBO. But thanks for the suggestion.
Well you don't need cable to watch the shows on that website.

Episodes 1 and 2 of this season got rave reviews from critics, including by those who were not completely in love with the season after the pilot last year, so I am really hoping for some good TV.
I am wondering at which point this season did Frank Darabont get removed from show-runner or if it all occurred after stuff wrapped up (AMC really needed to be aware that a never-ending comic serial of zombies was going to cost money from the on-set). His episodes had all of his touches of tension, horror, humanity, and Americana.
Overall really enjoyed last nights episode. Thought the first 20 minutes were scarier than anything in the first season. It slowed down after that but I mostly enjoyed the set up. And the end was pretty shocking. Can't wait until next week!
I could hear my housemates on the second floor gasped at the ending. Even knowing the fate of the characters I was surprised, then again this is Frank Darabont who has given us a sucker punch ending more than once in his storytelling.
I watched last night;s episode and to be honest I thought it was slow! I love the show. Season one was amazing and way too short! But I thought this was a slow start. I did not read the books and I don't know what else to expect. I am excited though. What happened to the daughter? If any would know the answer please message me! I hope Carl is okay! I know it wasn't an intentional shot to him. But I hope he is okay!

that scene with darryl and rick cutting open the zombie's stomach.. AWESOME! and that death with the screwdriver... yowza! love the special effects and make up on this show! and i loved seeing the zombies just sitting there in church! who knew they prayed! haha
I believe the zombies in the church was Darabont's touch of zombies going to places familiar a la zombies at the mall in Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
Or maybe he was commenting on organized religion? I know he's not fan.
