I hope it has more extras than the disappointing dvd re-release we got last year.
Either way, I can't wait to see that freaky accordion subway creature in hi def!

According to another post I read somewhere, it looks like the only special feature is the one that has been around since the first DVD :/
Why is it that we can get a special edition Blu-Ray of this, but none for Little Shop of Horrors??? I'm DYING to see the original ending in color!!!

I really am surprised about how this film has gained a huge cult following. When I first watched it I wanted to turn off the tv as soon as it got to the scene with the Munchkins. The film was considered to be a one of the biggest BOMBS of it's time but the following it has amazes me.

It was huge in the grind houses and on the chitlin circuit.

God, I love this movie...but unless it gets another feature or two, I'll pass on this.
They should really get Sidney Lumet, Diana Ross and Quincy Jones to provide commentary or the very least a new behind-the-scenes featurette. I would love to know the "mind set" during the making of this film because some of the choices made are of the "WTF were they thinking" nature.
And how come I live in a world where THE WIZ gets the blu-ray treatment and West Side Story has yet to be released in the format?!!!

I can't believe this is coming out on BD ahead of so many other good Universal catalog titles. It must be a big seller for them, but I saw the movie in the theatres, and it was grainy, faded, and gritty-looking then, during its initial run. Some of it looked like it was shot on 16mm stock. Terrible.
I would be really surprised if this looked great on BD. If anyone ends up buying it or renting it, post a reaction/review.

I'll probably buy it. My OCD won't let me not.
I have the re-mastered in high def and DTS sound version released a couple of years back. They did an amazing job with it actually. The visuals were a vast improvement over the previous DVD and VHS releases and the DTS soundtrack really made a difference...I was very impressed with it. I have a love/hate relationship with this film.
THE WIZ bombed initially at the box office but over the years, through countless airings on HBO and other cable outlets the film has built up a huge fan base believe it or not and has made money for Universal via the home video market. The same thing happened with XANADU. Don't be surprised if before the year is out XANADU gets the BD treatment.

I could see why films like "Sleeping Beauty" and "Fantasia" could gain a strong following after disappointing results during their first box office runs. They are both visually stunning and the former is based off a world-famous fairy tale. Still, I just do not find anything stunning about this film at all.
I paid to see it once. Saw half of it on tv somewhere. Don't know that i will ever watch it again. The only good thing about the movie for me was the Quincy Jones music and some arrangements.
Chitlin' circuit? Really?
