Clare Boothe Luce wrote the original play. Anita Loose adapted it for the screen. Hence, this movie was made by two "loose" women! Neither of which were cited in the linked article.

I would hope Annette Benning is playing Sylvia... and I agree I can't look at Meg Ryan anymore with those fish lips. She's so plastic... and not the girl next door anymore.

I doubt I'll even rent this one.

And not have it be catty? They shouldn't even bother to shoot the first day.

It will NOT be any good-it never works out when you try to do over something which was perfection and flawless.

In 'At Liberty', one of Stritch's stories is about a production of the women in which she shared the stage with Gloria Swanson, Marge Champion, and others. Seemed like their cattiness extended well beyond the stage.

I have a problem with the way Stritch presents this story. She makes herself out to be the victim. Yet she freely admits that she would drink before the show started and at intermission. I wonder how much was cattiness and how much was concern over Stritch's drinking.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Meg Ryan - never was a good actress and as others have pointed out, really messed up her face

Eva Mendes - ripped her looks off of Cindy Crawford; couldn't deliver a line even if she had the help of Western Union.

Jada Pinkett Smith - she's a B level actress at best. Has not been able to show herself strong in acting roles.

Debra Messing - not a solid actress. Was heavily supported on W&G by good writing and the comedic skills of Megan Mullally.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I agree they should leave well enough alone. I also agree that Bening would make a better Sylvia (if they HAVE to go ahead and make this). Lisa Kudrow? Phoebe Fowler?

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Have you ever seen Lisa Kudrow in anything besides Friends? She's a good actress and it's not like she only knows how to play Phoebe.

I'm still skeptical. And it just seems to me that Bening would be a spectacular Sylvia. She's got that silky smooth edge to her comedy that could work for the character.

Anyway, it's all academic at this point. Who knows what the final result will be? It sounds like a bad idea, but it may turn out to be a wonderful new film. Or not.

Oh, I think as a whole it's a spectacularly bad idea. I just thought Kudrow sounded like a good choice. Bening seems a little old for the role, in my opinion.

If this happens, it will be interesting to see how it is cast. My guess is that all the society women will be cast older than they were in the original film and that Crystal will be quite a bit younger than Crawford was when she played the part.

meg was part of the cast line-up years ago with, i think, julia roberts. if meg is playing the same role, that's kinda sad since she looks like she was ridden hard and put away wet. (and i'm a meg fan).

The only person who looks worse is Melanie Griffith, who looks like what her mother would have looked like if The Birds had attacked her.

yeah, right. I'll believe it when it actually gets made, so I can not go see it because I just couldn't care less. The original is pretty good, except for that monstrous over-wrought horror of a performance from Rosalind Russell.
