I just don't understand this recent phenomenon that members of the BWW community to start off their thread titles with the word "So":
"So, I Saw Hair again", "So I didn't like West Side Story", "So I just can't stand Idina Menzel"....
What is up with that? Why all the "So's"?
It has a long way to go, before it beats the over use of the word, "amazing"! Never has so much mediocrity been so amazing.
I have the same problem with the word 'Like'. I hear people use it all the time and it's like, SO annoying! See what I mean?
I don't think people are even aware they are using these words so much.
I so don't know what you're talking about...
I have a problem with:
Oh my God X 300000
and
Fun (Please, NEVER display your poor vocabulary by describing everything in this world as "fun").

I'm not keen on people who say myself when they mean me.
Or when people say penultimate because they think it means like super duper ultimate.
I find it weird when people END their sentences with "so." It's been a trend here in L.A. for a few years. I don't know if it's sweeping the country (or even if it started here), but it's really strange. I guess it invites people to complete your thoughts so you don't have to.
"I really didn't like it, so ..."
"I wouldn't change a thing, so ..."
"We could always do something else, so ..."
"I didn't sleep much last night, so ..."
So WHAT?!? Either finish the thought or don't end your sentance with "so!"

I LOVE Penelope, Kristin Wiig's character.

My answer to that is always, "It's you and there is a drug for it!"
Now I have the song So What from Cabaret running through my head.
So who do I blame?
I suppose that should be whom.
Phyllis, it kind of cracks me up that you're hanging out with people who use the word "penultimate" in daily conversation!

Actually, danmag, the latest offense was something I read on Huffington Post. I posted a comment saying, "I don't think penultimate means what you think it does."
Peruse is one of those words that is also frequently misused by folks thinking it means the opposite of its true meaning.
I have honestly never heard anyone use "Peruse" in a conversation before.
I hear all these things daily, and to be honest they don't bother me in the least. In casual conversation this is how people speak. I'm assuming we're not talking about a lecture or some other formal address.
If someone using the word 'so' really bothers you, I would think that a)the problem is yours, or b)you have an underlying issue with the person saying it.

Does that mean antepenultimate means super duper not ultimate?
"So yeah..." is even worse.
Unless you're an Eddie Izzard fan!
I use "So anyways" often as a segway into another topic during a conversation...
i.e The movie was good..Sooo anyways how was your day?
