Now they're a family? The whole point of the show was that they always WERE a family, wasn't it? I mean, the finale had so many blown chances. REAL people who create families out of their friendship circles actually manage to incorporate husbands and wives and significant others and children. Spouses and children should ALL have been in that last scene, with a final focus on the leads and two supporting players.
I dunno. Didn't any of the creative team ever actually THINK about what would make sense on that show?

Karen: Ah, Smitty. Why is there so much pain in the world? So much cruelty? Can you tell me that, Smitty?
Bartender: My name is not Smitty.
Karen: I don't need your life story, nose hair. Just fill her up.

Posted: 5/18/06 at 11:18pmF.Y.I. Lifetime is having a behind the scenes special right now. Its like what was on NBC before the final show but its still great! I don't think it's the same tho.

So what we learned after 8 years is that a gay man and a straight woman can be friends as long as they are single. When both are involved, they cannot because there are jealousies and that the only thing that can bring them back together is if they both have children who become friends. Because after a lifetime friendship - you can't work out the situation on your own. We've also learned, like Namo pointed out - that it's much easier and fun to keep a quad friendship than integrate everyone and enjoy each others company with respective spouses and signficant others.
You have to laugh at the "We've Grown" line. Because it would appear that, as characters, they really haven't. At least that's what the writers want us to believe.

Best quote I've seen about it, on another board: "Oy. That ending made me want to throw up. It was like porn for hags."

Posted: 5/19/06 at 12:11amWill & Grace was always written for a straight female audience. The writers just phoned in that last episode while scanning the want ads.

Posted: 5/19/06 at 12:11amActually I thought part of it rang true. Reminds me of having the best intentions with friends, but husbands, wives, children, reality, etc. sometimes cause people to grow apart. I thought most of the episode was fine until the very end.

No, this was the "We used to love this show, what the hell happened?" thread. It was all happening in a positive light until they dropped the ball with finale.
I still want to molest Megan Mullally.

Posted: 5/19/06 at 1:54amIs The Megan Mullaly Show a sitcom or a talk show?
#145re: The totally sincere Will & Grace Grief 'n' Healing Circle
Posted: 5/19/06 at 2:42amTalk show. There was a commercial featuring Megan hanging out with "Karen." Pretty smart considering most people are probably going to tune in to see the Karen Walker show.

Posted: 5/19/06 at 2:43amDidn't anyone else expect Rosario to yell, "Shut up you drunken bitch! No one wants to hear you sing!" right after that oh so sickening sweet duet that came out of nowhere and just reeked of an excuse to let Megan and Sean have their audition for "Simply Cole"? That at least would have been funny, if just a tad obvious. Plus they could have saved some time for something that might have made a little sense...

Posted: 5/19/06 at 2:50amFrom what I'm reading, both Namo and Suleen actually WATCHED the episode. So I must ask, "Why?"

It was just terrible to the point of insulting. It basically broke up a beautiful friendship and then brought it back together 20+ years later with one minor blip in between. They basically said that in order to have healthy productive lives, they couldn't be a part of each other's. It killed the family that had been formed over the last 8 years. And Karen losing all of her money again? C'mon. It took them 2 or more years to figure out that Stan didn't have any money? It was stupid. There were some very funny lines, but over all this was a big stinker.
And another thing... Grace's baby was maybe a year older than Will's baby at the most. Grace was almost due when Leo came back. I am supposed to believe that within 3-6 months Will got back together with the cop, they decided to become parents, found an egg donor and a surrogate and managed to get her pregnant? I call bull***t on that one.

OK for all you wussies who are too afraid to like the finale because someone here has nothing more to do with his time than ridicule you for liking it...while he never ever misses an episode, or a thread here on Will and Grace..this is for you...
IT WAS GREAT!!!!...
To me, like most of its run, it occasionally amused and once or twice tonight is was quite hilarious. It wasnt the best sitcom ever, but not a bad one either. And thankfully it didnt end with Will and Grace living together to bring up her baby..
