The word "Random"

Has this word become so overused that most who use it seem to have no idea what it actually means?

Discuss.

re: The word 'Random'

Absofreakinlutely. I'm so tired of the over- and mis-use of it.

re: The word 'Random'

I'm glad I am not alone in my plight. More often that not when I see it, it is used incorrectly.

Add to it the tired-from-the-get-go: "That's just wrong." As in "Saying 'random' too much -- that's just wrong."

re: The word 'Random'

Is this thread referring to the topic I started about Ricky Martin? If so, I'm not guilty. I think that was the second time I've ever used that word. I had no idea it was hackneyed (look it up) at this point. Carry on!

Worse than random -- the misuse of irony.

re: The word 'Random'

It's not worse, just because it's nowhere near as prevalent.

re: The word 'Random'

You know, Kringas, I'm hardly the one who should be singled out for using simple words of which I don't know the meaning. I'm going to give some thought on whether or not I should forgive you for that slur. Ok, it's Christmas, um no, it's a holiday, whatever!(NOW THERE'S A HACKNEYED WORD).

re: The word 'Random'

The word "random" makes my stomache turn. My old voice teacher and I actually just got together, and we were talking about how "random" is being used too often nowadays. I can't talk to anyone who uses that word. Just thinking abput it is making me want to...Ugh...this is getting too random...oooooops!
And.....SCENE!
