The worst remake of a song you've ever heard
#0The worst remake of a song you've ever heard
Posted: 7/18/05 at 5:23pmWhat has been the worst remake of a song you've ever done, where it is sung badly. Does that make any since? Anyway, I really hate the Christina Agularia(sp) version of Reflection. I always cringe when I hear it. Lea Salonga is sooo much better.

totally agree with you- I love Lea!
"Rich Girl" or whatever it was called. That song by Gwen Stefani. So, it's not "Rich Man" but I still hated it.

Counting Crows' "Big Yellow Taxi" is pretty horrendous, and I like their music.
Also, some Euro-twit remade "Like a Prayer" as an AWFUL techno-dance song with a hyper tempo. It actually pissed me off, it was so awful.

Eternal flame - I love Bangles. And I hate the new version.
Mandy - I loved the song from Barry Manilow.

Posted: 7/18/05 at 5:42pmI love Jessica Simpson, but her "Boots are Made for Walking" is simply... I don't know.

Posted: 7/18/05 at 5:45pmIf I have to hear a re-make of Miss Sinatra's "These Boots Were Made For Walking" I would much prefer to hear Geri Halliwell's version. She at least gives it the camp that it deserves.

I agree w/ Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl".
I know I'm probably in the minority, but I despise Tori Amos' "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

I don't care what anyone says.
Sure Rich Girl is a complete rip-off, but it is one helluva good song. End of story.
It is impossible to listen to it and not wanna dance.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

I agree about Geri Halliwell's "Boots", it's a nicely done cover. I can't say the same for Ms. Halliwell's breathy cover of "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps".
"Perhaps
*BREATHE*
Perhaps
*BREATHE*
Perhaps"
I love her anyway though, lol.

I agree "Rich Girl" is absolutely terrible.
I think Jessica Simpson's screwed up "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'".
2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!
3. "I love shrubs that are historical." -Johnny and The Sprites
4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

CM2, I couldn't agree more. That Streisand Woman's rendition of "Somewhere" sounds as though it was recorded in a wind tunnel.
Ever hear Barry Manilow's "Memories"?

Agreed with JS Boots Are Made For Walking. Her version.. I really don't even call that a song.
and there are too many remakes of Aint No Mountain High. 1, maybe 2 is enough thanks!

The thing that just pisses me off about Jessica's remake, and really all of her newer songs, is that she actually has vocal power, and one helluva voice--but she is just dumping it for this sh**acular breathy bull. I say, if you actually have talent, and I believe vocally she does (listen to her earlier songs), use it!
End rant.
Exeunt Voice.

Posted: 7/18/05 at 11:06pmRathnait... i'm just curious, when you say Clapton's Layla do you mean the blues version?
#22re: The worst remake of a song you've ever heard
Posted: 7/18/05 at 11:16pmWell, I call it the lounge version, but I believe we're talking about the same thing, yes. The blues shouldn't be mind-numbingly boring.
