I recently mentioned that I have been wanting, for years, a very rare out-of-print Barbara Cook recording.
A fellow BWW'er - OUT OF THE BLUE - contacts me and sends me the most beautifully packaged cd of the recording.
He asked for nothing in return. He simply wanted to share it with someone who would appreciate it as much as he.
A real class act.
I was so moved, that I felt I had to share.

I agree, a few can be pricks, but most of the people on here are incredibly sweet. I'm glad you got a copy though!
I thought this was sarcasm. Anyway that is nice.
one time a poster asked if I'd like to come visit him in austin.
ahh Mary_Ethel how we miss you
a fellow bww-er gave me tips last december on where to go and what to see and do in boston.
his advice made my birthday trip absolutly amazing :)
I thought this was going to be sarcastic too. Damn! There goes the fun.
Actually, BFB, I agree with you. We have some real gems around here. But don't go spreading that around. We have a reputation to uphold as a bunch of diva queen bitches.
I have also been on the receiving end of some really nice people here. Wait, you KNOW what I mean.
Thank you to those who have been so generous to me as well.
I really adore some of the people on this board.
I despise others, but for the most part yinz are pretty fantastic (and hysteical!)
Thas wonderful!
Cheers to the BWW'er who sent it to you!
Aww, that was a sweet post BFB.
There are some very, very awesome people on this board.
I have an autographed LP of Plain and Fancy. Has that ever been put on CD?
Nice!
Yes, Plain and Fancy is out on Cd. DRG re-issued it along with a couple rare Barbara Cook cast recordings (Flahooley and The Gay Life).
I was expecting sarcasm too, but I'm glad for a positive thread!
I've met some very nice and helpful people on this board

A spectacularly fabulous person sent me a book about gay men and musical theater that I didn't even know existed. Also, out of the blue.
So nice!

i love stories like that!
This thread started out as an unexpected surprise!
...and turned into the usual mess.
I'm wondering how so many people have so many others' addresses!

Google! Thank god I used my real name here so that person knew where to send my book!
I once gave Matt_G my office address. Nothing arrived.
As long as you didn't give it to Bway Matt!
I agree, some people on here are amazing. And they have my exact tastes in theatre and humor. It doesn't get any better than that.

Haha. Shhhh.
Last fall, I mailed someone a video of Live From Lincoln Center's PASSION, which I had in my possession. She insisted on repaying me, so when I was in the city the following month, she got me a ticket to CHICAGO.
Wow, a genuinely sincere post. I too have gotten to know a few nice people here.
A poster here on BWW knew I was looking for a copy of the OBC Recording of LEADER OF THE PACK. I had mentioned it in a thread. A couple of weeks later the poster sends me a copy of the entire recording.
So yeah, there are a lot of lovely people on this message board.
Yes there are.
