Let's face it - Antonio Banderas has a thick Spanish accent that is often hard to understand, PLUS, the producers ofthe film obviously think they need an "A-list" star to bring in audiences, and Antonio is definitely "B-list'.

I keep hearing him destroy the role of Che in my head and the thought of him as Guido makes me weep.

I didn't realize that dcl7777, that makes me feel better.

Did you not see Banderas on Broadway?

In my opinion, he was the best sung of the three Guido's I've heard (Julia, Pryce and Banderas).

Bring in Dave Coulier! He could do his Popeye voice halfway through. Perfection.

Considering the quality of the script and score and the director, they should probably cast Keanu Reeves to really finish the horror off.

Really, taz?

I cringe less at his vocals than some of the clunkers Julia and Pryce hit on the recording. Julia is my second favorite. Pryce makes my butthole pucker. And not in a good way.

Are we supposed to believe that Daniel Day Lewis films bring in more money than Antonio Banderas? "I want to see the figures on that. I want to see the figures."

Well for sure Pryce is just awful in that role. And maybe I'm biased b/c i fell in love with Julia from the OBC years before I actually saw Banderas live.

I actually love the original recording because, even though there are some notes Julia hits that make my eyes cross, he acting in the piece (as far as I can tell from the recording) is perfection. That 'Help me, someone!' in I CAN'T MAKE THIS MOVIE is actually an acting touchstone for me.

I don't even think Banderas acted it as well...but I did think he singing was impressive in the theatre.
