Well, of course I don't know how it used to be, since my first New York trip was on 2003, but add me to those who will miss the Gaiety next time I'm there

Now it is a little flea market
The big building next to it is the Wurlitzer Building. That whole block will be rebuilt in a few years
The big building on the corner is the old Hotel Knickerbocker - now an office building. If you go down to the subway underneath, near where you get the shuttle , you will see a door with the word Knickerbocker over it. While it was still a hotel, you could enter the lobby via the subway by means of that door. The door & word Knickerbocker are still there today
