Thriple Threat...question?
#0Thriple Threat...question?
Posted: 5/16/06 at 11:50amOk I dance, sing, and act...BUT I'm overweight...would I still qualify as a TT? I didn't know if only the ppl that are "fantastic" (fit/skinny) do or not. I dance just like anybody else and I sing and act just like anybody else but I didn't know if I would be called a Thriple Threat or not.

If you've got it, flaunt it.
Jason Alexander, not the slimmest of men and not the tallest either, is a triple threat. A quadruple one if you count the roller skating while singing he did in The Rink.
By the way, even if you haven't got it, flaunt it anyway.

Posted: 5/16/06 at 8:53pmI thought that guys weren't usually referred to as a triple threat. I mean, I suppose they could be, but usually only women are referred to as triple threats.

Posted: 5/16/06 at 9:23pmUHM. Alright darlin, the only thing that makes a triple threat a triple threat is that they can sing, dance, and act well. It doesn't matter if you're "overweight" or not. That's just your appearance...not your talent
#14re: Thriple Threat...question?
Posted: 5/16/06 at 10:33pmYou're probobly a quadruple threat, cause you won't blend in with everyone else.

"TT" has nothing to do with sex either, it can go for men or women, it's just that the majority that are the "TT's" in the world are women, less male dancers.

Dancinqueen123, I thought that the point of being a triple threat was that you can do all three well. If you can't sing very well, then you're not a triple threat.
No one siad you have to be a good TT.
There is no such thing as a bad triple threat. That would completely defeat the purpose.

Posted: 5/24/06 at 8:02pmi truly honestly believe that your appearance has nothing to do with making you any less of a triple threat. if you can do all three well then you my dear are a triple threat... and i am jealous hehe, singing is my best, then acting and im working on the dancing ive moved up to jazz 3 (out of 6 levels) but dancing is a toughy so for you to be a male, and a dancer, plussss be able to sing and act, then i dont think you should let anything or anyones opinion about whether appearance or not matters, stand in your way. go for it and worry about the little things when the time comes!

Posted: 5/28/06 at 9:43amIf you can sing, act, and dance you're a triple threat. If you're overweight how could that change anything??

Posted: 5/28/06 at 12:54pmWhich triple threat area would you say it was best to be the weakest in? Best may not the the "best" word but I'm sure you get the idea.
#22re: Thriple Threat...question?
Posted: 5/30/06 at 3:37amDepends on the show. Many roles can sing, dance and just be cute and need to have acting skills. Some shows require very little dancing. Sometimes, you can talk-sing a song and dance well. It just really depends.

Well to be a real triple threat. I think you need to be trained in all 3 areas. You need to be a very strong dancer, you don't have to have an amazing singing range, but you have to be able to sing. And you have to be able to act, all different styles.
Lets look at which Broadway star this term was first associated with. And that was the amazing Gwen Verdon. She could dance just about anything, she was a truly flawless dancer. She was a wonderful actress (4 Tonys) she could handle comedy, and she could handle drama. Earlier in her career she had a great singing voice, and had a nice range. Later on, she suffered from many vocal problems, but still kept her vocal charm, even though she sounded very raspy.
That is a true triple threat. And I think she should be the model for all other triple threats.

Gwen was one of the first triple threats. Whom I consider a model triple threat these days is Charlotte D'Amboise. She's brilliant. She's an amazing dancer, her singing is quite good and her acting is really top notch. I also think that David Elder is a good role model for a male triple threat. His Billy Lawlor in 42nd St. was wonderful!
Cheers,
Christopher
