And working on Fridays is the worst, because on Saturdays one or the other of my roommates always gets up in the morning and spends hours cooking/baking in the kitchen. My bedroom is right off the kitchen. You do the math.

That is one reason I have lived alone for many years. Or, at least not with roommates. Earplugs are a wonderful thing.

20/20 is now doing a story on a new asexuality movement.

This is pretty interesting.

These people have no interest/desire in sex.

This is way too much noise for earplugs to block.

Not to mention the German shepherd next door. I hate him.
And trust me, if I could live alone, I surely would!!

Aaand I just got a rejection letter from the University of Western Ontario. It was a long-shot, but I was still hoping for a miracle.

Hi DD. *slumps on shoulder* It's been a loooong 32 hours. I'm about to head down the existential crisis road of, "Why am I here and why can't everything I aspire for happen NOW and EASILY?"

How are you? Any shootings lately? (Good thing Undi's got that New York brass! She won't be intimidated. Plus Capitol Hill's rep isn't actually shady aside from that incident, right? If that's where we went that night, it didn't seem all that unsafe!)

It's quite a safe area. That was just a random event that happened at a party. The streets themselves are pretty safe.

I know, DD. I think our neuroses is highly underrated. We wouldn't get anywhere without it!

What prep are you making for Undi's arrival? I'm brainstorming ideas for how to cram as much as possible into one night in Vancouver! (I take it Davie Street and the Odyssey in particular is a must?)

Undi says Capilano Bridge is a must. We should also hit Stanley Park, Granville Island, Robson Street/Granville Street, a dim sum place, maybe the Chinese Temple or Sun-Yat Sen Garden, maybe Commercial Drive...if you liked that area where we had brunch, we could go there too (West Fourth Street) - very yuppie. We could do Yaletown too. And Main Street, if she wants vintage clothes and Indian food. I have to buy new clothes if we're going clubbing on Davie! I'm too haggish for you fashion queens!

We're going to a show on Thursday evening, and definitely out afterwards... she thinks she's resting. HA! Sunday is the obligatory Snoqualmie Falls visit, continuing to Roslyn across the mountains, where they filmed Northern Exposure.

Oh, I was teasing with the - I just wanted you to fear me a bit, is all. Does Fido have this softball schedule yet? Are you guys able to stick around until about 10ishPM to go back to Seattle on Saturday? What show are you guys seeing?

What is Undi planning to do on Monday and Tuesday? My first driving lessons was with stick so I can do it well (how anyone in the Rockies can NOT drive stick is beyond me) but since you're in Capitol Hill, it's probably just better for us to walk or bus, right?

Don't know yet what Fido has up his sleeve. The schedules are out... we really haven't chatted about it.

I guess Monday/Tuesday you all will have plenty of time to visit the market, space needle, etc. I am at most 3 blocks away from 3 different bus lines that will get you downtown. And once you're downtown the buses are free. Who knows, I might develop a bad cough at some point in there.

Really?? I didn't know that! (Then again, I've only taken the Monorail before.)

We have to show Undi the locks too! (Speaking of lox and locks, Undi says she doesn't like fish, but she eats lox. So she has to stock up on smoked salmon, but alas, we'll have to put Tojo's on hold for another time, DD dear! )

Is Freemont where Bimbo's was? I think the MAC lady told Shib and me that there was good shopping there, and we parked in front of one of the stores she mentioned.

Fremont is on the way to the Locks. And we can get plenty of lox around here.

for Tiff and Undi:

I should be clear to travel up there IF you are going AFTER work on Friday.. HOWEVER, I'm willing to ask for 1/2 off (can't do the whole, as I'm picking up money that morning) if you want to leave early... Have to be back at Saturday night (not super, dooper late, as I have games on Sunday)

In other topics: Crime in Seattle is pretty low.. but I keep remembering other issues.. Like Rock Singer Mia Zapata who was attacked just blocks from my home and killed some years ago.. and now there's a foundation two blocks from my home called "Home Alive" that focuses on educating folks on safety issues..

then, there's all the heroin overdosed rock stars that were found lying in baths, front rooms, etc a decade ago ... last, the mysterious death of Kurt Cobain.. not on Capitol Hill, but directly east just one mile (in Madrona).. to this day I think something fishy is up there and it's the subject of a long-running cable access program here :)

it's not over the top, so perhaps I'm just overfocussed on it all :)

Can we go to the house Kurt ODed in?? (Or was that put up for sale a few years ago? I feel like I read something about that...) I'm a bit of a Nirvana fan. (Who isn't??)

So if you can get half of Friday off, why don't you guys leave around, say, noon or 1, get here around 4...check into the hotel, maybe stroll around Granville and Robson, we'll all go for dinner (maybe at Granville Island?), dessert somewhere (Yaletown?) and drinks and hijinx on Davie or Granville at night. (Need to buy some new clothes if we're hitting Davie Street! I'm too haggish for those fashion queens!) Then on Saturday morning, we can do dim sum (maybe in Richmond, close to my place), hit the Buddhist Temple (also in Richmond and close-by), Capilano Bridge, Stanley Park, do afternoon tea somewhere if you guys are up for it, shop and have dinner around Main Street. Then I've got the hockey game at 7pm. You guys might want to leave then since Fido's got his game the next day. Hockey should be done around 9:30-10, so we wouldn't get back to Seattle until 12:30-1am, so I understand totally if you guys can't wait for me.
