Ciaron McCarthy - How can you make a statement like that about Catholicism and the Islamic faith? You need to understand the origins of these faiths and the interpretations before you can draw conclusions like that.

Judaism, Islam and Christianity all emerged from the same faith and source. Over the centuries, they have evolved into what we have today. A lot of changes to the texts have occurred due to political motivations. The only people that could write were working for royalty and such. That's why you see so many sects and variants.

It's a general statement to say something like that about opposition to homosexuality. Obviously, there are varying degrees of homosexual acts and these are not new. What we have now and what has always been done, is the use of supposed sacred Scripture being used to implement laws and rules.

It's hard to say whether the source of these things in every case rules out homosexuality. If you travel to remote jungles in Africa, South America and Indonesia, you will find homosexual acts with native bands there. Does this make them gay? Or does hetero marriage make people gay? This is much broader than you are suggesting.

Ciaron McCarthy - You can say that all you want. But what you need to understand is that not everyone thinks, acts or even feels like you do.

Take yourself out of the conventions you were raised under. Marriage and monogamy are cultural conventions. These rules do not apply everywhere for every culture.

There are bands in Africa where the men go off into the woods and have ritual group sex. They then go home and are with women. Sexuality is not even defined like it is here. The people are a unit.

The same thing happens in South American tribes and Indonesia. Did you know the Inuits in the North all sleep together naked in the same bed? Does that make them gay? "Man should not lay with man."?

As much as I personally wish sexuality was black and white it isn't. Do you hear what I am saying? It's hard to explain something to someone who isn't going to open their mind to difference. What I am writing are facts, and you can look them up.

For the record, I am gay and happy with it. Just try to open your mind a little. You sound like Bush making blanket statements like that.

I thought my response was clear enough. You didn't mention anything about "how Muslims feel about gays" until now. My response to this new statement would be: though I'm sure the vast majority of Muslims are taught to believe it is wrong, they are no different than Jews, Christians, Hindus and Buddhists who also think it is wrong.

All of these faiths have condemned homosexuality and do to this day. There are exceptions of course, but it is pretty much a rule.

You can be a Gay Muslim. They exist and I know several, I’ve dated a few (they are hot). It is completely possible, because you see we are not born religious. People even do naughty things in Mosques.

You can't be a gay Muslim. That is just some sect that is made up that is NOT recognized by Muslim leaders. Just like these churches are not sanctioned by the Pope or the Church of England.

Muslims believe, like Christians, that if you are gay you will go to hell.

I never said I was "straight acting." I said I am a masculine guy. I'm not acting anything, and I don't need to act straight. Girls ask me out a lot. When I go to bars, and on the subway. They don't think I'm gay.

CM - Current "Muslim leaders" did not write the scripture. The same with Christian and Jews. They are interpreting text. The homo-parts may have been added and probably were. Historically though there has been overt homosexuality within Islamic culture.

What I am saying is you really need to be able to define homosexuality before you can say that you cannot be a Gay Muslim. What does gay mean? Like I pointed out in many cultures having sex with another man does not make you gay.

You also need to know who is and why things are being interpreted. As with so much else in the sexual realm, Islamic norms differ profoundly from Western ones. It’s hard to describe every interpretation of Islam, but there is a history of homosexuality that is not a secret with Muslims. Though sex between Muslim men is frowned upon, there is sex between men and it is accepted as long as the participants marry and have children. Just go online there are books on the subject. It is not black and white.

Don’t assume because men can’t marry or be together it doesn’t happen and these men are straight. It is just a different way of looking at things.

Let me make this clear. I am GAY. I just don't think it is right to say you can't be a Gay Muslim. You just dont know. I am so Gay. I have a boyfriend, and I hope to marry him. I like kissing boys and watching Martha Inc. on DVD.

When I say you cannot be a gay Muslim I mean the religion does not support that lifestyle. It never has. No matter how many times it has been interpreted. The only ancient religions that accepted homosexuality or the act of having sexual relations with the same sex was paganism.
