I can't respond to your accusations about "people here." I have never called you an "anti-Semite," because I never use that phrase, which I consider inaccurate. I have said that certain statements of yours like "the Jews control the media" border on Jew-hatred. And they do.

Bridge-building is part of what Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum at Congregation Beth Simchat Torah teaches us, and it is a lesson I am slow to learn. At the Yom Kippur Service after 9/11--there were 3,000 of us worshiping at our usual Yom Kippur meeting space in the Javits Center, which was still filled with cops and rescue workers from all over.

Rabbi Sharon first read the names of the members who died on 9/11. We observed a long moment of silence for them.

Then she asked everyone who had been working in the Trade Center Buildings to stand, and a significant number of shell-shocked lesbian and gay survivors stood up.

Then she asked everyone who had been below Canal Street that morning to rise, and a larger group stood up. Then she asked for everyone who had been below 14th Street, and a good half od the congragtion was standing. We've always been a very "downtown" community. Then everyone who had been on the island of Manhattan stood, then everyone who had been in the city and then everyone else. We looked around, and thanked God we were all survivors.

And then she did something even more extraordinary. After everyone had taken their seats, she asked one young man to stand. He was the head of the Muslim-American Gay and Lesbian Association. Rabbi Sharon had invited him to attend our Yom Kippur service to make a statement to him and to us, to Jews and to Muslims, to gays and to straights, that we could embrace each other, even during those dark days, when we were feeling anger and loss.

One of the most worrying faces of the growing 9/11 Truth movement, of which I am proud to be a part, is the way in which it has attracted anti-Semites. I have many Jewish musical colleagues and dear friends, and I note they call themselves Jewish, not Jews. In Europe that is word that has been spoken too often by people with hatred in their hearts.

I hold no brief for militant Islam. I abhor the Christian far right. And I have many, many criticisms of Israeli foreign policy, some of which I expressed on a thread here a while back. But I will not give the time of day to Holocaust deniers or their sympathisers. Talk of 'Zionist' plots I find unhelpful and distracts attention from the real axis of evil. Sander Hicks, Green contender for New York in 2006, is both Jewish and a seasoned 9/11 activist, and he has identified a neo - Nazi element in the so-called New World Order, to which many of those complicit in the attacks are advocates. There are links between the Bush family and Nazi gold. Freemasonry is another dark horse. Pakistan is in there too. It is a complex web that may well involve Israel , just as it surely involves players from my own country, where the media has a complete stranglehold on 9/11 activist news. But no-one is saying 9/11 was a British plot.

The Jewish people, like the Islamic people and moderate Christians ( like myself),
need our humanity and our support. It is those who claim to represent them who deserve the sharp glare of the spotlight of truth.

PalJoey - This is the second time you have accused me of saying "the Jews control the media".

I have never said those words. They are your own. That is not whom I think controls the media anyways. I have pointed to a media bias that does exist and favor certain political parties. So stop saying that. You keep trying to tell me how to be sensitive and walk on eggshells about my views on Israeli policy. Why should I? I could easily call you a fascist or an "angry black man."

What do I mean by money? I always say, "follow the money." We live under capitalism. It's that simple. Our media is swayed by people in power with money. Most political decisions are manipulated by cash. You think Stem-cells are abortion and Republicans want those babies to live? Or do you think that Republicans are using it as a tool to manipulate voters? Follow the cash back to the Neo-cons supporting this garbage.

You mean to tell me the war in Iraq was really intended to free the people?

Even if I were to assume (and I don’t) that Jews money "controlled the world" I couldn't possibly right. Israel does not have oil and very limited natural resources, which are essential to controlling wealth in the world. The money Israel gets is from US Aid, last year around $81 billion dollars. While I would say some of that money is funneled back into US politics, it isn’t really Jewish money after all anyway. I follow the money.

It is not fair of you to infer things about me. You accuse me of prejudice and thereby prejudicing me. I know why you say “Jew-hater” and not “anti-Semite” and that is because you know how overused that term is becoming. You're right, it is overused.

Also accusing people of saying things like: “the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,” “Jews have all the money,” “holocaust deniers,” and “terrorist sympathizers” are quickly becoming alternatives for calling people anti-Semites.

I know there are people that use this language and slurs, and believe it. They are not my friends and I do not think like them. (How are Jews responsible for the war in Sri Lanka? I’d like to know). I know how this can fuel hate, but so does your quick jump to judgement.

When someone says something like “angry black man cliché,” what they are referring to is someone that jumps to the “race” card. This is exactly what you are doing and people on this board have done to me.
