Tom Cruise/Scientology/Brooke Shields and post-partum depression

I'm sorry if this is on another thread but..

From NY Daily News: But in an exclusive interview to be aired Thursday on "Access Hollywood," Cruise tells host Billy Bush that Shields was misguided when she took the anti-depressant Paxil to fight her depression after giving birth to daughter Rowan - which Shields recounts in her memoir, "Down Came the Rain"

Cruise, who zealously preaches the Church of Scientology's hatred of all mind-altering drugs, tells Bush: "Here is a woman, and I care about Brooke Shields because I think she is an incredibly talented woman. You look at, where has her career gone?"

I didn't know that Shields' career was in trouble. She's currently starring in the London production of "Chicago." Her PR rep didn't return my call.

The 42-year-old Cruise sat down with Bush - for interviews to be broadcast all this week - as part of a surprising publicity campaign hyping his romance with 26-year-old starlet Katie Holmes.

"These drugs are dangerous. I have actually helped people come off," Cruise maintains to Bush. "When you talk about postpartum, you can take people today, women, and what you do is you use vitamins. There is a hormonal thing that is going on, scientifically, you can prove that. But when you talk about emotional, chemical imbalances in people, there is no science behind that. You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things."

IS HE KIDDING??
I'm beginning to wonder if Cruise has serioulsy lost his marbles.

Bizarre, pathetic, sad...I remember how much vitality he brought to his early roles in Making Love, Taps and Risky Business and then I look at, Where has his career gone!

Sad he's so wrapped up in that crack pot "Religion."

I'm not sure which is more bizarre, the Scientology comments or that he's on a publicity tour to promote his relationship with Katie Holmes?

Ironic how the public announcement of his new girlfriend coincides with the release of his new movie. Some actors are such whores.

funny all his philosophy and vitamins and fame and money couldn't keep him happy with Mimi, Nicole, or Penelope...but he knows what Brooke should be doing...
Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys. "I guarantee that we'll have tough times. I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life..."

Tom Cruise is one messed up man. His "performance" on Oprah was downright frightening. Everything he said was through a self-editing mind and every move he makes is done with a camera's view in his head. I give the whole Katie Holmes thing a year, tops, after the wedding. And his comments on PPD and anti-depressants is just ingnorance. Of course, this is someone who believes Homosexuality can be cured.
PEACE.

Legend is that sci-fi authors L. Ron Hubbard and Robert Heinlein made a bet about who could make more money off religion (or start a religion, depending on your source). Heinlein wrote the fascinating Stranger in a Strange Land. Hubbard wrote Dianetics and founded Scientology.

I betcha if Madonna wrote a book we'd get a whole new religion!

Wow, I didn't know Tom was such an expert on mental health.

What school did he get his degree from?
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

I'm watching him now on Oprah, and I can't keep my mouth from staying open in complete, utter disbelief. For some reason, he is really, really trying to sell this relationship with Katie. He's jumping up and down, running around the stage, hitting the floor with his hands. We get it Tom. You're in love...we really do believe you.
