re: Tom Cruise/Scientology/Brooke Shields and post-partum depression

What an ass wipe. Shields just finished a succesful turn on B'way in "Wonderful Town" and is now in London starring in "Chicago". She 's had a hit sit-com and was a box office draw when Tom was still picking his nose...he needs to shut the fvck up and examine his own life before putting down someone else's.

Just saw him on Oprah too... and it seemed so "staged" when he brough Katie out... it was like watching Michael Jackson with Lisa Marie Presley.

re: Tom Cruise/Scientology/Brooke Shields and post-partum depression

When Tom Cruise has a baby...and suffers post-partem depression, he can take all the vitimans he wants...but until then he should keep his closeted gay nose outta Brooke's or any other womans reproductive business.

His carrying on over his new love seems a bit over the top to me. Is he prepping for another gay scandal? Maybe this is a pre-emptive strike...???? But no matter what, it seems as though he thinks, if he says it loud and long and with a lot of feeling it will make it true. I personally am not buying it.

I know that I have already posted on this thread, but I'm still annoyed. How dare he presume to know Brooke's innermost feelings and judge what is best for her? Who the hell does he think he is? Scientology should be outlawed, and Oprah should cover THAT.

His Brooke Shields comments are disgusting.

And I'm beginning to think that he and Rosie had some sort of deal to help each other's "straight" personas stay just that.

Apparently being on the same set with Brooke during Endless Love gave Tom some sort of mystical insight into her reproductive processes. I can't believe people still give Mariah crap when Tom is so obviously more whacked.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Jez... it's long been rumoured that he's gay. Apparently he's not very good in bed... Mimi made some reference to that when they broke up... plus his blatant homophobia and how he sues you if you imply he's gay. Way too insecure about his heterosexuality. You don't often see well-adjusted heteros constantly reminding us that they're straight.

I have no idea about Cruise, but I do have a little quibble with that statement- a lot of heterosexual men constantly feel the need to prove their "machoness," even if they don't explicitly state it in terms of homophobia. Remember that article about the "man-date" not too long ago?

re: Tom Cruise/Scientology/Brooke Shields and post-partum depression

Plum... even gay men feel the need to prove their machoness. Note that I stated "well adjusted". A well adjusted heterosexual male will not feel the need to prove every time he can that he's straight... and will correct people (or not, sometimes) when it might be implied that they're gay. By well adjusted I also mean someone who's been exposed to gay people and is not "afraid" of them.

How can these vapid comments surprise anybody? Everytime I see his megawatt, joyless smile I just wanna puke. What an automaton!

re: Tom Cruise/Scientology/Brooke Shields and post-partum depression

Oprah is rebroadcast late here, so I just watched this. How appalling. Has he taken this Katie dog-and-pony show on the road to other t.v. shows? Or was he just playing it up to Oprah's nearly all-female audience? And, did ya notice how he milked the crowd for every last scream? When they started to die out after the opening he STOOD UP again, waving and laughing, and oh, I'm so embarrassed! And those hand-clenching attacks on Oprah were a sight to behold too. What a nutcase. A full half hour was spent on Katie, then a little on the movie, a tiny little sliver on that poor guy who has had to live with the Tom Cruise name and then MORE KATIE. Chasing her down the halls of Harpo studios, she's an actress for god's sake, like she'd be so terrified of appearing on Oprah.

God, the whole thing was just crawly.

HE's the one that needs to be prescribed the mood-altering drugs. He's definitely got a screw loose. If someone I was dating, no matter how much I loved him, acted like that I would be afraid, very afraid. Just a tad too close to obsession.....

I caught the end of the show yesterday.

Is he freakin' kidding us with this? And is Katie that hard up for publicity?

Also...I heard that his first choice for his new love was Kate Bosworth who wasn't interested.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

I find myself disappointed most in Oprah. I mean...woman has been THROUGH it...talking honestly about her weight, her dead child, her dalliances with coke. And she keeps telling audiences to find their own truth. How can she then present this clearly fake 'romance' and exalt it?

I have no idea if Cruise is gay (I mean...wouldn't SOMEONE have come forward with some sort of proof by now???), but he's becoming more and more a product instead of a human being, which, frankly, I didn't think was possible considering how manufactured he's been since the beginning of his career. It's just so freaking sad...and it's so sad that people in this world will simply put this forward to the American public. And for what? That's what still puzzles me.

Because Oprah's second favorite phrase is "MY GOOD FRIEND TOM CRUISE!!!!!" She'll do whatever it takes to be able to continue using it.

re: Tom Cruise/Scientology/Brooke Shields and post-partum depression

The greater story here is this asshole’s views on medications. Here he is promoting the “just get over it” school of treatment. It is a dangerous and archaic view to take. It reeks of the “Why can’t alcoholics just say ‘NO’?’ ” And “You just need to get out and enjoy the day!” type of judgment.

How many people who are on medications, many with awful side effects, for depression, bi-polar disorder or schizophrenia will say to themselves, “Hey, Tom says all I need is a Flintstone Chewable. I can flush these horrible pills down the toilet and start feeling better!” Will he take responsibility for the people who resort to this and end up hurting themselves or someone else? If he chooses not to seek that form of treatment for himself that is one thing, but for someone in his position (who I am sure has MANY fans who are on some sort of medication) to condemn someone who is obviously benefiting from the proper use of those medications is irresponsible.

I don’t give a fVck who he sleeps with, but when he is telling people who rely on proper medication to get them through a simple day, that the drugs that make them sleepy or cause them to gain weight are doing more harm than good and comparing these people to drug addicts the man should be locked up. And anyone who has a mental illness or a family member with a mental illness should be outraged and at the very least boycott his films.

PEACE.
