For anyone who has the pre-conceived notion that NYC is a scary, dangerous place, think again.
Awesome...no NYC in the top 25!
But "Good Morning" Baltimore, Gary, Indiana ("not Lousiana, Paris, France, New York, or Rome") and "Meet Me in" Saint Louis all made the top 10.
yeah go hartford -_-
Woo! Go Camden! The two hours I spent there were among the most treasured in my memory.
Side note -- this really makes me excited about my upcoming business trip to Atlanta.
looking at the flipside, a suburb of buffalo is #3 on the safest list... see, it's not that bad here

But add all the pedestrians run over by cars in NYC and you may get a different picture.
If you look further, this is a comment only about crimes.
NYC is still dangerous, unfortunately.

Camden once again makes it t o the top! Well done Camden, well done.
My city, Newton MA is the #1 safest city!
The city in which I currently live is in the top 5. Uh-oh. I feel safe, though.
2 cities within the top 5...Michigan's nice, eh?

I'm suprised Baton Rouge didn't join New Orleans on that list, since a lot of them migrated over here.
Michigan is so ghetto. I'm so proud!
Although I do live in the #6 safest city, so that's always reassuring.

Please note that there's really nothing to do in the top safest cities.
I couldn't agree more. We have a good mall that was great for celebrity sightings when the Super Bowl came to Michigan, but other than that...yeah. I plan to move to one of the dangerous cities in a few years.
i'm not surprised to see DC on that list. Crime unfortunately has been taking place in the good neighborhoods, too. My opinion is that they need to get a new police chief, because Chief Ramsey doesn't have a clue.

Yes, there's Somerset and then there's the Tig- no wait...the Lio-...hmm... THE PISTONS, we have the Pistons!
Hannah, you're right by me, I'm at Brandeis.
My grandfather lived in West Palm Beach, I was really surprised to see it on the list...I guess that he lived in the really nice part.
Heh, I knew the "town that knew me when" was up there. My friend did a whole research project on Gary...scary findings about crime and stuff. Last year when we planned to go to the All-Star Game in Detroit(that worked out), he was gonna take me through Gary and we were gonna buy shirts that said we survived "Gary, Indiana." Too bad that never worked out.
Hmm, Clarkstown, NY is the 2nd safest. Is that an actual city? Like upstate maybe? I know a Clarkstown in NY that's a town, but not a city.
I love how my parents are under the impression that New York City is this really dangerous city, when Clevelandis frickin' number 12!
I made a point to show her the list and point out that NYC isn't even on it.
There's a hell of a lot to do in Newton! Our schools are really good, and we have all kinds of clubs and sports teams. i've never been bored a day in my life here. plus, we have a huge jewish population, so it's all good!
ElphabaRose- glad you like Brandeis! My friend's brother went there a few years ago and loved it

Hannah, have you ever worked with the Newton Country Players?

The way this company presents facts is really misleading. If you want to see the real numbers use the FBI stats before this company manipulates them.
The reality is that you are much more likely to be a victim of crime in touristy areas that don't want you to know about it (Orlando, Myrtle Beach, etc) than you are in downtown Detroit (where the central business district is 26% safer than the national average for large cities). Other than property crimes (auto theft, burglary) there's very little random crime in Detroit.

woot! Cleveland's 12!
...not a good thing...but...whatever. Cleveland Rocks, in a clearly violent not safe way.

I live in the 21st safest town! 90% of that is cops with authority issues, but that sidebar is of a personal nature.
