Anyone see EXIT TO EDEN? How about CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC? I can handle bad movies, but phony ones aren't worth it: Rob Reiner's post "Princess Bride" offerings, Garry Marshall, Ron Howard's post "Parenthood" bore-a-thon's ("It's wonderful to have a beautiful mind, but it's more important to have a beautiful heart"...BLLLLEEEEAGGHHHHSPLOPP!!!!!)
Movies everyone loves that I hated:
THE ENGLISH PATIENT (all of Minghella's films except the first half hour of "Truly Madly Deeply")
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL (Benigni must be shot. Period.)
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM (Drooling, exploitive, hysterical just-say-no movie...great turn by Ellen Burstyn, though)
GLADIATOR
AMERICAN BEAUTY (stereotypical, pretentious, and stupid)
THE HOURS--Ed Harris as a homo poet (Sam Shepard and Clint Eastwood weren't available, apparently.) that throws himself out the window and Nicole Kidman in a totally distracting prosthetic nose that makes her look just like....well, it makes her not look like Nicole Kidman. And Meryl Streep in her worst performance. Why did people like this movie??)

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
