Torture of Bronx Men Thought To Be Gay

Heard about this one, yet?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

You should see the comments on EW talking about the removal of the gay slur in that Vince Vaughn movie trailer. Every time I think anti-gay sentiment in this country can't ratcheted up any further I am surprised yet again.

Torture of Bronx Men Thought To Be Gay

You know, I have been very fortunate in my life to have never been the victim of any sort of bullying based on my being gay. I have found nothing but acceptance from my family and friends and those around me. I can't help but feel immeasurably guilty for being so fortunate. How in the world could I possibly tell some confused, harassed kid "it gets better", when I've had it so good and all they see is **** like this week after week, either from a gang of thugs, or bullies in school, or politicians?
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

In addition to some officials exclaiming how horrific it is, I've seen public comments including "they got what they deserve because they flaunted their sexuality," "that older man deserves it for going after teenagers," and my favorite, "the only reason anyone cares is because they're illegal immigrants."

What I love about comment lobbers like that, it's always, "But I'm not homophobic! How dare you infer that I am!" Kind of like teabaggers saying they aren't racist.

Obviously, these sick bastards are going to get their asses thrown in jail for a long, long time. Thank goodness they were caught (except one, who scurried like a rat) and thank goodness it's at least getting reportage.

"He goes to school," said the woman, who identified herself only as Caroline. "He’s doing everything good. He has a baby on the way. I raised a good boy. I know my son has nothing to do with this."

I feel so old- I can remember the days when having knocked up your high-school girlfriend was evidence of NOT being a good boy.

Joe - my nephew and his girlfriend got pregnant while still in high school. When I expressed concern as to her finishing to get her diploma, I was told, "Oh, it's ok, they have a child-care center there."

That was a turning point for me.

Joe - I was thinking the same thing. Since when does being a 17 year-old baby-daddy in high school equate to being a "good boy"? Or can you now letter in conception? Perhaps what she means is, her son only smokes crack. It's not like he sells it.
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian

Does it make me racist to suspect that there is a chance this "good boy's" mother is not much older than myself (i.e. under the age of 35)? That would probably help explain why she sees no problem with being such a young baby-daddy.
