... Think about this:

Twilight- The Musical.

Can you guys see it?
I can see it, but I can't hear it.

What do you guys think?

I agree.

Like I said, I can see it happening though. It's almost unavoidable, so huge as a book and soon-to-be movie.

I just can't hear what the music could ever possibly sound like. Ever.

I think it would flop, like the Spiderman show they're planning.

I was just wondering what people on here would think because I actually read somewhere online (can't remember where) that Twilight- The Musical IS indeed in the making.

I don't think it would happen. Just because it's a popular book and soon to be movie doens't mean it's going to be a musical. Harry Potter isn't a musical. Neither is Too Kill a Mockingbird. Or Catcher in the Rye. Or the Gossip Girl series. Plus vampire musicals have a huge habit of flopping.

I find it funny that you compare Twilight the musical flopping to Spiderman the musical flopping when Spiderman isn't even in rehearsals yet.

If you got the right composer and lyricist I think it could be decent. But I think it might be overkill if they were to do a book series, movie, and musical.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I? I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Just the idea of Twilight the movie turns me off. A musical is worse... I just love the books so much (with exception of the latest one). I hate seeing them ruined. And yes, I was comparing it to Spiderman. In my opinion, I just can't see Spiderman being good. Of course, I couldn't see Legally Blonde either (another book, movie and musical) and it's a huge hit! Either way I was just curious about others' thoughts.

I can see it happening but I wouldn't like it.

I consider Twilight to be one of my favorite books, but not because of any kind of literary genius. It's a girly romance and every girl wants an Edward.

It would be very week source material - very character driven rather than plot driven - and description heavy. Really, we'd have Bella singing about how Edward is "chizzled" and "marble" and "dazzling" and how unworthy of his love (sorry, I had to) she feels.

I'm already disappointed it's being made into a movie. A musical would just be overkill.

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

I could see it... I think it could actually be decent because songs are often used in musicals to express feelings that can't be expressed in words. Twilight is such an internal book/story. There are pages and pages about Bella feels....I would be concerned about some elements, but I think it could work. This is my same argument for the Pride and Prejudice musical as well...And I'm very much against musicals using movies as source material, but I'm always willing to give a musical with a book or play source material.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
