While I would love to see Fritz win the title, just don't see him being able to beat Alcarez or Sinner. For him to win, I think he needs some help from the "Draw Gods" and an upset of one of the top seeds. I think if any American can pull it off it might be Ben Shelton with his big lefty serve.
I am also going the first week of the US Open, going to day session on Thursday.

I’ll be there Sunday evening, the 24th. I just saw Novak dropped out of the Cincinnati open, the man is toast

Novak dropped out because of a personal issue, not physical injury. He could still get some practice before US Open by getting WC into the Winston Salem Open which is week before US Open. Even at 38, I don't see players besides Alcarez and Sinner who I think would be favored to beat him at US Open. Unfortunately for Novak, I don't see him beating Alcarez or Sinner in a best of 5 unless either one of them is off that day.

I actually enjoyed the "Mixed Doubles" SF and Final matches the other night. I think this format is a success and will continue in the future. Starting before US Open actually begins and shortening the sets has brought in top singles players. This was the first time a "Mixed Doubles" final ever played before a full house. Was kind of cool seeing the defending champions repeat over two top 10 singles players. (Swiatek & Ruud).

I guess you will see firsthand if Novak is toast -lol. He is playing young American (Tien) tonight on Ashe Stadium.

That Eala/Tauson match was a nail biter. Congrats to Eala for making history.

I was rooting for Medvedev (as was the crowd) tonight. sad to see him lose. I hope Djokovic goes all the way to the end with Fritz. I can’t stand Alcaraz. Looking forward to watching Venus tomorrow on television

Medvedev has really gone downhill, hard to believe he won US Open title a few years ago. Djokovic seemed like he was hurting a bit, we shall see. I would love to see Fritz win but don't see him being able to beat Sinner or Alcarez. Venus did not get lucky with the draw, Muchova is very good player when healthy.

Djokovic wins in straight sets 6-1,7-6 (3),6-2 but Tien hung in there and even had set point in 2nd set.

I lost all respect for Djokovic when he held that tournament during COVID. He used to be a lot of fun to watch and used to love his impersonations of other players in his early days.
Zarazua is currently giving Madison Keys a run for her money.
And Zarazua took the match. Congrats to her!

I tried watching the ladies after Novak, wanted to support Pegula, but that Egyptian player was truly awful. It was boring and horrible to watch, I left and headed over to Louis Armstrong for the Bonzi Medvedev match. It was shocking, Arthur Ashe was completely full to maybe 25 percent when the ladies went on. Would love to see Venus win and Alcaraz lose tonight.

Always like a surprise tournament winner but I want Alcaraz and Sabalenka or Gauff to win it all.

I’d love to see Tiafoe win, but sadly he’s just an also ran in the era of Sinner and Alcaraz

They have won a bunch already so would love to see some youngsters win like Shelton and Andreeva.

Oh definitely. I think their time is coming. I would also like to see Felix Auger-Aliassime go further than he has in the Grand Slam tournaments. I like him.
Update: I needed a cocktail after Coco's match. I was screaming and jumping around in my living room.

I had fantastic time at US Open on Thursday. I flew home late afternoon yesterday. I was thrilled when I saw that I was going to see Sinner and Armstrong on Ashe Stadium. I was a bit surprised it took Swiatek three sets for her victory. Sinner won in three sets over Popyrin and looked really good. I really like that they now practice on all courts and not just the designated "practice" courts. I got there early so I would be getting in as soon as the gates (used the South entrance) opened. I went to Armstrong and saw Musetti and Osaka practice. After that I went over to Ashe to see Sinner practice and a bit surprised he hit with Popyrin. After the matches were over on Ashe, I went over to Court 12 and got a seat in the 3rd row to see Bublik (#23) win, and he will face Tommy Paul next. Being that close to the court, you can actually hear how hard they hit the ball. I could also hear some of the things Bublik said to his coach -lol. I love taking pictures and have some real nice shots of my day at US Open. I did not leave until a few minutes before 8pm.

Impressive upset of Zverev last night.

Osaka upsets Gauff 6-3,6-2 and Pegula is the only American woman left in the draw. Fritz is the only American man left, and he plays Djokovic in QF tomorrow night. Since Fritz is 0-10 versus Djokovic, things do not look good for Fritz to repeat his trip to the finals."

"Let’s go COCO."
Her serve was fine, just way too many unforced errors.

Osaka has been killing it. Anisimova is still there too, she plays later today. Happy for Auger-Aliassime. Pulling for Sinner tonight

Fernandez and Williams have been a joy to watch. Tomorrow's match against Townsend and Siniakova will be one to watch. Glad I have an afternoon call time so I can watch it.
