What is the state of Broadwayworld now in 2025? Sep 7 2025, 04:42:37 PM
I can’t speak for others like Sutton, but I do not have multiple usernames. I have only ever used one username at a time, not interested in any rebrand. The issue is the mods selectively ban people for giving unpopular opinions even when they haven’t broken the rules. This needs to change

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025 Sep 7 2025, 04:30:16 PM
The way it’s been described is that the music isn’t playing them off so the cast is just standing there and the audience is stuck there just clapping like seals for many minutes

The whatsonstage podcast talked about standing ovations taking over the west end, mickeyjo has talked about it, others have talked about it. So unless you’re calling all of them liars, this is what is happening in the West End; Cheap standing ovations which should not be seen as any indicator whatsoever.

The Next London Imports: Any Guesses? Sep 7 2025, 02:35:46 PM
If anything, NEWSIES should be the one to get a remount. Let’s have a magical Broadway season with Beauty and the Beast at the Palace, Newsies at the Nederlander, along with Aladdin and The Lion King still running. Maybe Hercules can go into the St James.

CABARET sets closing with Porter and Wallace to star Sep 7 2025, 02:31:43 PM
JOHN KANDER deserved so much better than this mediocre production. I hope we get a great production of CABARET very soon to cleanse the memory of this one.

You have actual British people that are saying the Cannes style 15 minute long standing ovations are now taking over the west end. It’s less about them liking it and more about the amount of money they spent. Thankfully, we’ve gone in the opposite direction, I’m noticing a heck of a lot less standing ovations in New York, it’s wonderful to see

The restrooms on the sixth floor are really big and clean. I actually didn’t even realize there were restrooms on 8th. theres also the 7th floor across the vending machines but those r small and not as good, usually nothing to dry your hands.
when I saw stranger things, I was horrified watching the people running up and down the escalators to find a restroom. It’s truly frightening in there, if the Marquis is to continue being used as a theater

ROLLING THUNDER Reviews Sep 6 2025, 11:03:36 PM
I didn’t like it at all, stupid show and the song choices were pretty bizarre. Born to be wild as they are going to war and killing me softly after one of the guys dies. Some of these musicals I’ve seen at NWS are just beyond words it’s like a high schooler wrote it. Although I did like Sogn of the times, that was pretty cute.

Rachel’s voice is too pingy for me for the score. I prefer a voice with more body to it like Patti or Shareen Pimentel had at the ART. I hate how Rachel goes up right at the end of rainbow high on the word “quality.” It sounds so much better just doing it as written, why mess with a good thing

Metropolitan Opera's money crunch Sep 5 2025, 10:14:18 PM
Adam Guettel to me is the perfect composer who blurs the lines between musical theater and opera. Light in the piazza actually has been done in opera houses, I think Renee Fleming played it. The hours also blurred the lines beautifully. Andrew Lloyd webbers Aspects of love could easily be done at the opera, it’s gorgeous

It’s also les mis, Chicago and so many other shows where actors are just holding out the note. It’s a competition at this point. Horrible
