Valerie Harper has been diagnosed with brain cancer

Just read this on HuffPo. Her prognosis is not good. So sad. Hoping for the best.

How sad, but she's strong and brave. I love how she's facing it: "I don't think of dying. I think of being here now."

What a rotten way for a tremendous innings to end.

What she brought to The Mary Tyler Moore Show and later Rhoda in terms of her comedic talent was priceless.

When my daughter was young I would tell her about these two shows in as much detail as I could remember. We didn't get re-runs the way you chaps did and when they finally invented a dual region VHS our family was first in line. We sent off to Americcy (thanks Amazon.com) for The Mary Tyler Moore Show and later Rhoda (amongst others) and my daughter loved them. We very often give them an airing even now on DVD. Good clean fun and iconic TV.

She touched many people near and far with her work and I'm so sorry things have to end this way for her.

So sad. I remember she did some tv movie in the 90's that me and my sisters ended up watching every weekend for awhile. I also got to see her at Seth Rudetsky's Broadway Chatterbox at Don't Tell Mama in 2010, I believe. She had a very interesting career.

I do so love her attitude. Live in the moment for it is all we truly have. I hope she has a peaceful and painless passing surrounded by loved ones.

We saw her in "Tale of The Allergist's Wife" and I recall the warm glow I felt throughout and remember the same feeling while watching Mary Tyler Moore in Gurney's "Sweet Sue." Those two women loom large in my life.

When I moved back to New York from Miami a year and a half ago I sold the bulk of my DVD library but the only DVD's I could not bear to part with were my Mary Tyler Moore Show DVD's...I will have a marathon in her honor this weekend because she was such a big part of why I loved that show.

I watched "Rhoda the Beautiful" last night--the one where she wins the beauty contest.

As sad as I was when I started, within minutes I was laughing, and I was downright happy by the end.

And that's not a bad legacy.

Her cancer has not stopped her from acting. Harper along with Mary Tyler Moore and Cloris Leachman will appear on 'Hot in Cleveland'.
