WAT, I was dancing all over the den when Tsonga won! Watching Nadal now.
SO HAPPY TSONGA WON. now he needs to lose to Djokovic.

Haha...I think I was more "shocked" than "happy" that Tsonga beat Federer. Nonetheless, this will (hopefully) set up a very competitive final between Rafa and Novak.
On another positive note, the amazingly talented, brilliant, and gorgeous Maria Sharapova is into the finals. I hope she can control her serve well enough on Saturday to defeat Kvitova and win her second Wimbledon title (and her fourth grand slam title). Go Maria!!

Will the Queen show up to see Andy v. Rafa?
If not, which royal? Charles & Camilla?

Novak looks pretty "excited" that he won.

Yes, he's had his moment. And next week he takes the #1 rank. It makes you wonder how many other athletes will try gluten-free to see if it improves their game.
Will Nadal snatch the top spot back? He may need to heal that foot because I don't like the sound of them having to numb it before he plays even if they didn't find a break or anything "serious" in the MRI.

If he was going to lose to anybody, I'm glad it was Djokovic.
I'm fine that Novak looks that excited. I think he's so cute!

I went to the morning session for Arthur Ashe Stadium today hoping to see both the matches of Andy Murray and of Nadal.
They announced cancellation in the early afternoon.
No complaints about Stubhub. My ticket, even with fees was about half price, and by the time I got home I had an email from them telling me I would get a full refund due to event cancellation.
I wonder how many more rain days we can have...?

After being knocked out of seeing Rafa Tuesday morning due to rain, and the sadness of being knocked from today's ticket by the crazy rescheduling last night by the U.S. Open, every time I see a decent price on a ticket for the finals it is gone by the time Stubhub loads in. And now Stubhub has crashed. If I buy a finals ticket I am not guaranteed to see him, he still has to make it.
Will I get to see Rafa this year???

Excellent match, but what the heck is with those trendy long baggy shorts? So unflattering.

Yes, the long capris and sleeveless crewnecks that Rafa used to wear were ever so much more stylish.
Then there came a day when he didn't want to wear them anymore and it was such a bummer. Women were in mourning.

Wishing you top form and a new strategy in the match with Nole for today, Rafa!

Maybe Rafa and Roger should team up and figure out where the hell Nole has a weakness to exploit.
Nice to see Isner and Roddick make the quarterfinals, and so glad Roddick is healed, even if he pooped out he did well. Nice of Michele Obama to turn out for his match. I would love to see Andy back at # 5 in a few months. He did beat the #5 player, after all. It was hard to see Rafa beat him when he wasn't feeling strong enough to give Rafa a good match.
I think all the sogginess and humidity of this Open was very hard on older and injured players. It makes the joints swell, for one thing, giving advantage to the younger players with more intact joints which are not so affected.

Nole has just retired, injured, from the Davis Cup competition.
Lower back and rib pain. Probably from his tough Federer match at the US Open. This injury was in evidence at one point in his match with Rafa. Proving Federer is still a tough champion to beat and come away intact.
Federer thinks Rafa's problems with Nole now are a head game, and Federer can beat Nole easier than Rafa can. Rafa can beat Federer easier than Nole. Nole can beat Rafa easier than Federer. It's like a round robin.
