I'd rather they made a case for why he was wrong. I don't expect them to change his mind, but they might have changed the minds of viewers.
I just don't think they accomplished anything.

Only by staying can you rebut the statements - leaving means his view is the last heard.
Although, seeing how they 'discuss' things on that show, I don't see the point to anyone hanging around - it frequently dissolves into babble.
But, at least in my mind, walking away was just unprofessional. The last time I saw someone do that was Carrie prejean on larry King - and that's not really a good linkup in my mind.
Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning.
You Go Boy!
The best walk-off was Lily Tomlin on the Dick Cavett Show, when Chad Everett referred to his wife as his property.

Remember when Mica Longlastname refused to read a story about Paris Hilton on Morning Joe?
They couldn't change anyone's minds because O'Reilly wouldn't even let them talk. He's crazy.

Heck, I'm in support of them walking off not even specifically due to his stupid, intentionally provocative remark about Muslims on 9/11. A few minutes earlier, he had the gall to shout over them and bellow, "BE QUIET AND I'LL TEACH YOU" or something like that. The audience groaned. "Provocative," yes. "Blowhard," yes.
And downright RUDE. As a broadcast host and co-host...you just don't go on someone else's show and be rude to the hosts. I hoped one of those ladies would smack him at that point, before he even began talking about the mosque/Muslim issue. He's a jerk. But he's laughing all the way to the bank. Of course.
I really think that Bill's comment was taken too literally. He even apologized after saying it, but of course no one listened to that. Does that mean i agree with him? No. But I think he was just taken too literally. I do NOT like this man, but people don't have to be so quick to judge.
Now, I LOVE Whoopi and I can only take Joy in small doses, but what they did was RIDICULOUS. SO unproffesional. You would never see even someone like Glenn Beck or O'Reilly storm off like that, even if they don't agree someone. They argue and at commercial they cool off. But for them to just stand up and walk away like that, made them look bad. Not respectable. I lost a lot of respect for Whoopi. It didn't surprise me that Joy did that, but I expected more proffesionalism from Whoopi.
According to "The View's" Facebook page, they are going to address the walk-off on Monday's show.
While I agree walking off didn't quite tip the debate in their favor, there really was no debating with the man. As soon as anyone began talking, he would talk over them. It simply wasn't a discussion because he didn't allow it to be one; there was no listening on his part, and he wasn't going to let anyone listen to what they had to say. How do you even HAVE a civilized discussion with someone who does that?
I think that's why they are discussing it on Monday. It says "LIVE" so I suspect they taped Friday's show on Thursday and decided to wait until they were live to talk about it.
"As soon as anyone began talking, he would talk over them."
Yeah. That's The View.
Of course they had O'Reilly on Thursday because I'm sure they anticipated fireworks and since Friday's show is not taped- they had a whole weekend of other shows talking about them. I wish "The Talk" was scheduled against them. I'm curious how that show is gonna be!
mom, I think they tape Friday's show on Thursday. I gather that they are waiting until Monday to talk about it when they are actually live.
