"Viva Laughlin"?

Well, it's been on for 8 minutes and so far I'm kind of havin' fun with it. I have memories of Laughlin in its early days (2 casinos on boats pulled up to the riverbank. One of the boats had some hotel rooms built on top. What it did have was lots of big dreams and I'm kind of curious to see if any of this show was actually filmed there.
edit - ok - Hugh just showed up. The visuals have just become MUCH better, but the music has got to go.
A click for life.

Posted: 10/19/07 at 12:11amWell... I don't know about the rest of you, but I liked it. It was fun. It was different. It was entertaining. It had Hugh Jackman! And it looked glorious in HD! What's not to like?

It was entertaining. But I'm not sure if I was laughing with it or at it.
I had seen excerpts from the Pilot, and didn't care for it. But, seeing the entire first episode provided more context. I wonder where they'll take it from here...

Well, I didn't think it was bad; rather, I thought it was pointless.
When the first song started it had context, as though the character was listening to it on the radio. I thought, "Oh sure, I can buy this. Who doesn't sing along and have production number fantasies?!?" (Well, maybe not everyone ...) The other songs, though, simply came out of nowhere, and, if they are going to do that, why not have people actually sing them, rather than sing along with them? It didn't make sense to me ...
Nevertheless, I may give it a second viewing.

I kind of enjoyed it (or course, Hugh Jackman had quite a bit to do with that
)
I have Cop Rock on video (they ran it on VH1 for a couple of days) and still haven't watched it. I wouldn't hold my breath for a DVD release, due to copyright issues...

Posted: 10/19/07 at 2:03pmI think if I didn't love the British version so much I would have liked this one better. But the main character has ZERO charisma and I found it hard to care about him. If only they could have gotten Christian from Nip/Tuck; he would have been PERFECT.

Posted: 10/19/07 at 3:38pmHugh Jackman made it worth watching but Melanie Griffith? I don't know--I think she's past it big time! I didn't catch the whole show-I'll have to tune in next Sun.

Posted: 10/23/07 at 12:50pmI pegged it---I didn't think it would last past 2-3 episodes. I will buy it on DVD, if they release it.

It was not Jackman's series. He was scheduled to make guest appearences.
How about a series set in a Vegas police station ? Viva Laughlin meets Cop Rock.
