I second that motion Eddie. Robbie's singing gave my basket a case of the tinglies! He's a GENIOUS!
I'm still singing various renditions of Dreamgirls...
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo to the amazing Mr. Maitner!
and, it was FABULOUS to see so many of you there!
"It's more than you
It is more than me
whatever dreams we have
they're for the family..."
Robbiej needs to add "String of Pearls" to his show some how!
Addy..that is my favorite song from "Dreamgirls" !!!

From the very first time I saw Dreamgirls, I thought that song should be adopted as the gay national anthem.
Believe me DG..that song means so much to me...mainly because of a theater group we started and just watching friends turn into Divas...luckily the friendships survived, but the group broke up.
The words to that song are SO meaningful to me!
And, yes, SOMMS, I think Robbie should add that song! String of Pearls is perfect!

It's more than you, it is more than me
No matter what we are, we are a family
This dream is for all of us, this one can be real
And you can't stop us now because of how you feel
It's more than you, it is more than me
Whatever dreams we have they're for the family
We're not alone anymore, now there are others there
And that dream is big enough for all of us to share
So don't think you're going, you're not going anywhere
You're staying and taking your share
And if you get afraid again I'll be there
We are a family
Like a giant tree branching out to the sky
We are a family
We are so much more than just you and I
We are a family
Like a giant tree, going stronger , growing wiser
And we are growing free
We need you
We are a family
*smiles through her tears*
*hugs Addy*
*group hug*
I LOVE Group things.
and the thread is back on track... LOL!
But it was very sophisticated being we were all wearing our pearls.
I am wearing mine still...
So Addy..this song is still stuck in my head from Saturday...
He bought me the fur mink five winters ago
And the gown the following fall
Then the necklace, the bag, the gloves, and the hat,
That was late '48 I recall
Then last night in his apartment
He tried to remove them all
And I said as I ran down the hall.
Take back your mink
Take back your pearls
What made you think
That I was one of those girls?
Take back the gown
The gloves and the hat
I may be down
But I'm not flat as all that.
I thought that each expensive gift you'd arranged
Was a token of your esteem
But when I think of what you want in exchange
It all seems a horrible dream
Eek.
So take back your mink.
To from whence it came
And tell them to alter and rise it
For some other dame
Take back your mink
Take back your pearls
What made you think
That I was one of those girls?
I'm screaming:
Take back the gown
The gloves and the hat
I may be down
But I'm not flat as all that.
I thought that each expensive gift you'd arranged
Was a token of your esteem
But when I think of what you want in exchange
It all seems a horrible dream
Eek!
Take back your mink
Those old worn out pelts
And go shorten the sleaves
For somebody else.
(interlude)
Well, wouldn't you?
I do a mean rendition of that song!
"Well, wouldn't you?" Love it...
I see a Karoke night in our future.
