WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE (1990)

I found this on Youtube tonight and had totally forgotten about this. I remember seeing it originally in 1990 when I was 12 and I loved how weird and bizarre it was.

I know people hate it because it's not the original, but I still think it holds up as a pretty decent Made-For-TV remake, with some great performances.

Is this the Redgrave Sisters version?

I'm only interested if it features Lynn Redgrave chasing the piano player out of the house going, "He hhhhhhhhhhATES me."

The problem with the Redgrave version is that Lynne didn't understand the role. She played it like a white trailer trash woman. When you look at Bette Davis, you think "That woman is batsh*t crazy. And potentially dangerous." You look at Lynne Redgrave and think "Did Walmart give her the day off?"

What's startling about the original, vs. the remake, is how old Davis and Crawford look for their ages. Davis was 53-54 when she made the film, but easily looks 68-70. Ditto Crawford. Was it the different times? Well, yeah. Still, crica when I turned 53, I looked at the clip of Davis looking in the mirror and thought, "It's over." The Redgraves have a different energy, and it's much younger, interestingly enough. But it's not really very good, and I find myself wondering why the hell they did it.
