I think Anderson Cooper's coverage on CNN has been outstanding.

Uplifting, and thoughtful memorials of the victims.
Celebrations of the heroes.

And minimal discussion of the murderer.


I've been very drawn to the stories that give some comfort.
There is an article about one of the teacher's aides who died, while holding her special needs student in her arms, so he wouldn't be alone. They both died, but they died in eachother's arms.

There is a story that some of the children who died were found holding hands. How comforting to know that they were linked together as they passed.

So many stories of heroes. People who were and have been there for the children.

Bless them.

(not that there's really anything comforting about any of this...)

A friend reminded me of these beautiful lyrics last night.
They have a special meaning for us, and I think they're perfect for this tragedy:

Puppies and angels are nice but those children are dead torn apart by multiple gunshots. The parents should allow the autopsy pictures to be shown all over the United States,
The people have to rise up against the NRA and our gutless politicians to destroy these weapons because we will continue to have episode after episode of these horrors unless we join the civilized world/...

Addy, I saw that interview last night. So sweet, and yet so very devastating. My mind still has difficulty grasping the magnitude of this horrific crime.

I had nightmares about the funerals last night. I see the school photos of these little kids on the news and all I can think about are my niece and nephew--seven and five. I want to scoop them up and give them hugs and kisses and protect them for the rest of my life.

This letter, written by one of the children's best friend, is just heartbreaking and yet uplifting.

Roberts contacted the Toys R' Us in Milford and bought $19,000 worth of toys, one gift for each of the students in Sandy Hook Elementary School. The truckload dropped off in town Wednesday evening.

"I called at 11:30 a.m., this morning and it had been delivered already within seven hours. I must say that Toys R' Us did a great job," said Roberts.

Roberts is the owner of Water and Seward Products in Bridge City, Louisiana. He says he wished he could have made the drop himself, but is unable to because of his work schedule. He felt he had to do something for these children.

"Cause those children don't deserve what they had to go through and are going through," he said.

For this Santa, the hope is that one gift could bring a little happiness to the children thousands of miles away.

There is a picture being shared on FB of a large group of 'Angels' doing something positive.

The caption:

A group of other "Angels" and their leather clad brethren formed a human chain along the road in Woodbury to protect the mourners at Sandy Hook Elementary School principal Dawn Hochsprung's services today alongside firefighters and town's folk. It worked, the WBC stood down.
