He's a cutie. If the story is accurate regarding WB & AB's reaction, I hope people will cut them some slack too and give them the chance to move through whatever stages they need to as parents in order to reach full acceptance. Anyway, I wish them all the best.

I agree. I would think that even the most open-minded people have the sort of emotions that AB & WB are having right now. I'm fully for equal rights and all that but I think I might be a little upset if my child told me that they were doing this. As parents they're going to worry. "Is she doing the right thing?" "Is she going to regret this later?" "She is so young."

Honestly, as long as no one is reporting that they want nothing to do with her I'm totally fine with how they're feeling about it.

I think this is because Annette's haircut has confused the children for so long they've become confused about gender identity in their family. And now with her new movie to match her haircut it's no wonder her child doesn't know which way is up. Such a shame.

There's definitely an attitude of "not in my family" that many liberal-minded people espouse. They have no problem with homosexuality or gender-reassignment, but they can't believe that one of their own is doing it. Let's not forget that Cher initially kicked Chastity out when she came out as a lesbian in the late eighties. Hopefully, Mr Beatty will come around at some point.

My only concern is that 18 seems awfully young to be making irreparable decisions like this.

But I think 18 is too young for a lot of things, like tattoos and getting married.

I don't mean legally too young. I mean emotionally. So many high-strung decisions being made at that age. What if you turn around at 30 and say, "What the hell was I thinking?"

Tough luck, I guess.

Well, if you consider she's probably known her whole life then 18 doesn't seem too young. And legally there are still parameters that have to be met via psychological counseling and living as the opposite gender for whatever the period is, etc, all before surgery.

I knew at 18 I was gay. I think that at 18 he could have a handle on his gender identity. I get your concerns, but I think (or at least I believe) the system is set up to make sure people don't go through with it and then a few years later realize they've made an irreparable mistake.

Wow, I understand being a concerned parent here, concern for his health and well being, but not because they cant handle it. I have NO sympathy for Beatty if he's not being supportive. Has he met his daughter? Has he and Annette raised her to be able to go to them with identity issues? Eff them if they cant be 100 percent supportive.

Same went for Cher, glad she's on board now but eff her for initally throwing Chas out. These people should know better.

Warren and Annette's reaction probably comes from being fearful of how the rest of the world will treat Stephen and not because they can't be supportive. They will come around.
