He keeps clearing his throat and making some weird grunting . I wouldn't throw that out of bed..... I'll give him that. So far the Republicans are not winning any new fans based on this tv presentation.

So he blames Obama for not giving enough stimulus to the GM plant that closed, completely out of Obama's control since the auto-crisis recovery was GWB and closed under Bush and then calls the President the greatest threat to Medicare.
Wait, who is the liberal again?

How dare he prattle on about how people should be free to define their own happiness?
Class-A cretin.

Posted: 8/30/12 at 12:51amIs the election still really 50/50 at this point? I thought the GOP convention would give the Republicans an advantage, but nothing has changed in the polls. In fact Obama's approval rating seems to have leveled out. I HATE how to polls are making it too close to call.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind having Paul Ryan as my next door neighbor. He'd probably give me great pleasure as he mowed his lawn. I'm sure he'd be a good neighbor, too.
However, having him a heartbeat away from the Presidency? No way!

Wait, what?
I wanted to add a "baby" to that, to let you know I'm not attacking, you, but no matter where you put baby with "wait" and "what" it just sounds crazy.

Yes because I am sure Paul Ryan mows his own lawn.

Posted: 8/30/12 at 2:38amLooking at polls during the conventions are not the best idea. Volatile bumps and drops all over the place. You don't want to know just how ahead Dukakis was after the '88 convention. Get really into the polls to mid-to-late September on forward.

Paul Ryan's made the gaffe about the GM plant before and it was addressed before. He clearly doesn't care if he lies or not and according to a Romney pollster, "We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers". They absolutely LOVE that Republican voters are stupid and lazy and they are milking it as much as they did in 2008, from which they learned nothing.

It wasn't misleading- Paul Ryan flat-out lied. It's not a matter of opinion: He stated facts that were absolutely untrue. And yet, the media has latched on to the idea that he's a "policy wonk" and has decided to portray him as an earnest dork instead of the lying sleaze bag he is.
I'd love to see the media do a report on the fact that Paul Ryan CHARGES his constituents to attend town hall meetings with him.
Paul Ryan's brazen lies.

It is not a gaffe, a brazen lie that most of his Republican colleagues cannot even really defend. They just hope he can say that lie again and again for enough people to begin to believe it, and that includes the incredibly stupid DC press corps. There were still people, note not Republican operators but news people, praising the speech yet acknowledging the fact-fudging but almost forgiving it because it was a speech to the base. How in the hell is that acceptable?
Scott Walker was made a fool (not that hard, he was successfully prank called into believing he was actually talking to the Koch brothers) by the Rev. Al Sharpton for basically admitting that Obama's only actions could be retroactively re-opening the plant.

Posted: 8/30/12 at 11:51amThe other galling thing about Ryan is that his OWN RUNNING MATE was (is) AGAINST the automobile bail-out. It's hard to reconcile outrage over one plant closing with support of letting two entire companies close.

Phyllis, he said -
"I was on my own path, my own journey, an American journey, where I could think for myself, decide for myself...define happiness for myself. That is what we do in this country.
That is the American dream."

It just rubbed me up the wrong way. Nothing new, of course.
