Argh, my computer is crap-ola.
*kicks computer*
Sorry about the random rage.
*kicks it too*
...just because I feel like kicking something.

Just to keep the spirit going:
I wanted to give him a hug there.
Oh my, the above picture is just too cute!

His hair is getting long-ish in back, I like it. I'm also a loser for noticing that.

I think we're all losers here.
And I just posted this pic yesterday, but look at him! *is a freak*
Don't worry, I noticed it too.
My mother just finished Without You.
I'm so upset wtih her.
What did she think?
I probably shouldn't say.
She just.... I'm beginning to feel like it's beyond her to experience anything for what it's worth emotionally. She's so cynical and quick to pass harsh judgement. Everything's a joke to my mother.
I'm sorry.
I'm kind of hurt. Which doesn't make a lot of sense.

No, I think it does make sense. You obviously wanted her to like the book, and the fact that she made fun of it (I'm assuming?) or made light of it hurts your feelings, because it's special to you. Stuff like that happens to me a lot with my parents.
It makes sense that you're upset. This book clearly means a lot to you, and you wanted to share it with her.
Everything is so thin and trivial with her. Which I don't really get.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your mom, emcee. Was it the book in general or just certain parts that she was reacting badly to?
In lighter news, a friend of mine from journalism class finally took my advice and rented 'Rent' and watched it Saturday night and then again when she woke up. From the way that she was talking and everything, she really seemed to...understand everything in it and really took it to heart. I was really excited. She was talking about how she loved the 'No Day But Today' message and all of this stuff. *heart* And that caused a discussion in the class about why I thought a lot of people didn't like it and some of the reviews and stuff. I think I convinced my teacher to see it. And yes, as you can tell, we do not do anything in that class.
Oh, she had nothing to say about the book itself, really. Not about if it was good or affecting, or well written, etc or not. It was about how it makes Anthony come off.
For all of the stories from people who read the book and pass it on to their parents for a strengthened relationship, there are bound to be a few opposing reactions. gr.
heh. I kind of miss do-nothing classes.
Hmm. I guess she probably wanted to see what all the buzz was about. At least she wanted to what you were interested in, so maybe she didn't enjoy it and had problems with what was written. It's a hard book to dive into and enjoy if you've already got differing opinions on the topics being presented. Instead of getting yourself worked up over it, just think that it's something she wanted to do for you. To be able to understand you more.
I think she did want to try to figure me out, or something. But it's so bothersome that she can't surrender herself to anything if it's not completely the way she sees the world. I can't believe what she said. At all. And the other day, she was telling me she really wants to meet him. pft.
I completely understand, Em. Fortunately, my mom had a positive reaction to the book, but I know that if she hadn't, I would have been crushed, because it meant a lot to me to share it with her. I'm sorry your mom didn't react well to it.
