Ha, I read the book to my friend at weekend track meets, it helps calm my nerves. . Especially since I normally sit around for a few hours before my races. I wanted to get the audio book so we could listen to him read it instead of me.
See I can't do that. I get bored listening to other people read. I have to do it myself if I'm going to enjoy it.

He really enjoyed the book. He has a copy of it, and he got it signed by Anthony at the St. Louis signing.
My reading of it. . . well, at times I bump into words that I would stumble over or mispronounce completely (which he would give the correct one). I've always had trouble with that. :-P
Other than those words, he enjoyed it. I always enjoyed reading books outloud to my brother when he was younger. I would get so much into the action of the book (including inventing the characters' voices). Seth (my boyfriend) and I had such a blast doing it that we plan of reading another book over the phone.

I don't think I could listen to 21 hours of Harry Potter though.
I'd probably fall asleep listening to the audio.

Actually, Seth fell asleep during chapter 2. He fell asleep because my voice was so soothing and he was lying down, not because he was bored.

I stutter too much when talking so I'm glad that none of my friends ever want me to read to them. But then again, I'm one of the only ones that likes to read around here.
Was it any harder to read out loud the more emotional parts than to read them to yourself?

Yes. Underlined.
In fact, after I read the section when Anthony confronts his mother's dead body, I cried. That was the first time I cried over anything dealing with Anthony's book. Reading it to myself, I was moved but kept distant from it at the same time. But re-enacting the intonations I heard in my head and, in a sense, acting it out; it just hit me harder. Seth was even crying afterwards.
Reading it out loud also affects me physcially. For example, the "tyson moment." My heart was beating faster. I felt jittery and scared and tensed. I was breathing faster and not quite as deep. You can imagine what I was literally feeling while reading other very emotional scenes.

I can't do books on tape. Normally, I can listen to music and do other things, like go online or something, or I can listen to music while reading. It doesn't distract me at all. But there's something about listening to someone read that just brings me attention deficits to the forefront and I have to concentrate very carefully to be able to pay attention and follow.
Anywho, it'll probably end up on iTunes eventually.
Hi all!
I just wanted to pop my head in; I haven't been around in ages as I have been studying for the GMAT to (hopefully) get into business school, but I did want to share the fact that I saw RENT on Broadway last Saturday for the first time since 1997. All in all, I was very pleased. It was very surreal for me- the first time I saw the show I was 16, and I truly think that the life experiences that I've had since that time have allowed me to grow in my appreciation of the show.
I was curious to see Matt Caplan, as I've heard such negative things about his performance, but all in all I was pleased. He does have a wonderful, powerful voice, but seems to be too cocky and self-assured with his portrayal of Mark. Granted, the only other Mark I have ever seen was Anthony, but something seems a little off. That's the best way that I can describe it. He has a likeability factor, but not in a cute, dorky sort of way, which is how I always view Mark.
Tim was great as Roger! Very passionate, and I enjoyed his voice. Matt and Tim sounded fantastic together on "What You Own." I also thought that Destan was fantastic as Collins- I loved his voice, and his "I'll Cover You- Reprise" was touching and spot on.
Mimi- she was played by Moeisha McGill during my performance. She was hot and cold for me. Sometimes she completely lacked vocal power, and sometimes she gave me chills. I didn't love the performance, but it wasn't awful by any means.
Maureen- I loved Haven! What a wonderful voice, and a great "Over the Moon!" I found her to be likeable and spunky- loved every moment!
Angel- Justin Johnston was great..his "take me" during Contact was powerful and touching..great chemistry with Destan.
Side note- it was fun to see Frenchie Davis in the ensemble. She was much better than I expected, specifically during "Seasons."
Anyway, sorry to be so long winded, but I just wanted to share:) Hope you are all doing well.
Lesley
I'm glad you had a good time!
I loved Haven to pieces when I saw her as Maureen, and I hope I can see her again.
Hey Stater! Glad you had fun.
Thanks! It was a great day...minus the freezing cold rain! It baffled me, some girls were walking around in minis and flip-flops in the the middle of 30 degree weather. Go figure!
To the first page we go!
Great review, Stater!
So how is everyone?

*flails* Spring Break!
I'll eventually get the audiobook. Eventually meaning when I have money to spare on it, so probably not until the summer.
I wonder how long it too him to read it.

There are different prices, based on format and such.
I think it would be cool to have the audio book. I love hearing the snippets of him reading during his book tour.

Not to be completely random, but does anyone know when the podcasts are going to stop? Or are they just going to continue until they run out of people?
Edit: Just so I don't have to make another post, I'll just edit this. I don't remember who it was that had already gotten the audio book but whoever it was, does it come by postal service or ups/fed ex/whatever? I know this seems completely irrelevant but I'm trying to find out if it'll come by the time I leave. If it doesn't, I'll be packing a bag full of books!
Hah, I think they'll probably continue up until the 10th anniversary.

I received my audiobook through UPS. And it was delivered to my door the day it was supposed to.
