I hope my dad went to the Dallas signing, if he didn't I am going to be really mad.

Once again I want to thank everybody for writing about their experiences at the booksignings, they make me smile.
Ooh, I got my mom to watch RENT yesterday... I'm not sure what she really thought of it. My favourite comment of hers though was "Is Jesse L. Martin's character gay?" when they are singing Santa Fe, I was like "yes..." Her response was "okay, just thought they might be friends". Then I'll Cover You came on, and she seemed to think it was cute. I was just happy I could get her to watch it. And I also watched in Sunday with my friend, and my dad came in during La Vie Boheme, smiled at me and told me that it wasn't appropriate for me and then laughed. Granted, my dad is the one who will have Easter dinner with me and my friends and we'll talk about bondage (I still haven't figured out why we talked about bondage), so he doesn't actually care... he just likes being "funny".
Sorry for the length, and the over comma use (I'm really trying to stop!)

I just forced my friend to watch Rent. (Well, not literally *forced*, but prodded). She didn't seem to like it (I think she was unable to accept the fact that yes, they would be breaking into song), but she did *love* Angel, Collins, Mark, and Joanne. Especially Angel.
She didn't seem to like Maureen, Roger, or Mimi, though, and kept tutting all through Light My Candle.

RENThead414 - I'm glad it's not just my mom. I was just really happy she let me make her watch it, I wasn't sure if she would... because she's not really into some of the things that I am, but I'm not really surprised that she watched it... if that makes any sense.
My mom likes RENT in general... though she seems to be a bit worried about how much I love gay people. lol.

I've got four of my friends and a teacher of mine to watch it. My teacher liked it, and three of my friends liked it.
My mom really likes RENT. Not nearly as much as I do, but she still likes it.
My mom likes RENT too, she loves the songs, the story touches her, and she even looks some stuff about it online She doesn't keep up with me though
My mom: "why don't they all just shut up and get jobs?"
While watching it, my mom kept turning to me saying, "I don't get it, anak" (term of endearment for a child). And when it ended she goes, "What happened in this movie?" Oh Mother, how you make me laugh.
"Anthony was so cute! Adam needs to stop whining."
*facepalm*
haha
"Why does he just sit around? He's so lazy. He should shut up and just go work!"
I'm glad my mother is amusing.
I watched it with my mom on Sunday, and she started to sing along with Tango Maureen...I had no idea she knew the words, lol.
My mom loves RENT, she's thinks its great. My dad hasn't seen the movie yet, but he listens to the soundtrack and likes it. We tried to get my grandma to watch it but she refused, she said, "Why would I want to sit and watch gay people complain about paying the RENT?" I didn't bother to try to argue with her...

I'm of the opinion that my mom forced herself to like Rent in order to have a new discussion topic with me. It's not something she'd listen to on her own, but for whatever reason, she likes to have as many common interests with me as possible. She's always teasing me about Adam, too.
My mom was quite taken with Jesse. Her reaction to the movie was mostly just: "I can't believe that the man from Law & Order can sing like that!" She likes to listen to ICY:R about 60 times a day. :)
I think my mom's tired of hearing about it. Even though I don't really talk to her about it that much because I know she's really not interested. She teases me about Adam ALL. THE. TIME.
The best part of when I watched Rent with my mom is when she turns to me and goes, "Angel has really girly legs for a guy" and during the finale she goes, "Mimi DIES?!?"

I am so amused by the stories of how moms/dads react to the musical/movie

I don't think I've heard someone over the age of 25 use that word. Impressive.
That's funny, though.
Em, my mom was asking me why I even needed the DVD on its release date considering I saw it in theaters so many times. I replied that I especially wanted to hear the commentary and she was all, "Is Adaaaaam in it?" GOD.
