Hey Everyone,

The artistic director of my theatre is looking for well known play which have several acting opportunities for women.

He's comtemplating "The Children's Hour," which I loathe.

Do you have any suggestions?

I've already thought of:

Agnes of God
The Women
The Prime of Miss Jean Brody
The Rose Tattoo
The Killing of Sister George

Steel Magnolias

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

I hadn't thought of "The Miracle Work." A good choice.

Unfortunately, "Anne Frank" is currently being done here in Chicago, and "Steel Magnolias" was recently produced at another theatre a couple of seasons ago.

"A Delicate Balance," another possibility was also recently produced/

I just recommended it to ~ff~, but "The Smell of the Kill" by Michelle Lowe is a great newer show for women. Very 'Desperate Housewives', even though it came first.

See if you can find an Australian play called MORNING SACRIFICE by Dymphna Cusack, written in the '50s and set in the teachers' room of a girls' school...all-female cast. Not well-known, I grant you, but worth a read.

Also WAITING IN THE WINGS by Noel Coward.

DUSA, FISH, STAS & VI by Pam Gems...English '70s female 4-hander.
