West Harlem?
West Harlem?#1

Part of the reason I've not been frequenting BWW as of late is due to my stressful moving situation.
2 different deals have fallen through, and I literally just got a fantastic offer for a beautiful place on West 147th Street.
I'm not familiar with the area, I don't know anyone who lives in the area, so I was hoping that someone here might have some insight on the area. More specifically, the place is located on W 147th btwn Riverside and Broadway.
Any help is much appreciated...thanks!

I know several people who live up there, within just a few blocks of that specific location. They really like it. I think some of West Harlem has a lot of the most beautiful parts of the city, actually. You probably know this, but the area is undergoing a lot of changes -- buildings are being torn down and huge, brand new apartment complexes are going up, etc.
Good luck -- and you and I really must catch up. =)

I have two friends who both live on 145 on the West Side. They absolutely love it. They have great places for a good price and they say the subway is very convenient where they are.
In fact, the boyfriend and I are considering that exact area when the Astoria lease is up.

W147th should be a great location. Nice neighborhood. My brother-in-law lived near there for a few years and loved it.
robbiej - where in Astoria do you live? I grew up there (decades ago).

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:54amThat's a great area. I spent most of my youth on 32nd St, off Broadway, then the last few years on 30th St, again off Broadway.

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:58amIt's a nice area, munk. The 1 train can get a little packed on the weekends, but other than that, it should be fine. My co-worker just moved quite close to that very location and is quite happy. (Of course, she was coming from Staten Island, but still...)
