Anyone watching?
The PBGB is so cute. I also adore the Otter Hound.

I went to the Westminster two years ago. The best part was going into the "backstage" area with all the dogs and venders. So cool. re: Westminster-

I was lucky enough to be in NY for the final day of Westminster a few years ago. Watching the judging for each of the breeds down on the floor was fascinating and filled up the day. That night was the judging within the groups and then best of show. It was just wonderful. (And I agree - visiting with the dogs backstage and coming home with a huge bag of souvenirs from the vendors was terrific! The dogs in our family really made out.)

I am watching. My best friend says this added to my love of theatre officially makes me a gay man. (Loving the Pug & Dalmation)

I'm proud of the bull terrier, I love watching history in the making. Though that dalmation was, in my opinion, the epitome of breed standard.

Is rufus that pit bull that's been winning lately? I think that dog is a perfectly beautiful specimen of his breed.

I agree Corine the PBGB was tooo sweet, and the Golden was great.
But after having a Parti Colored Cocker for 14 years I do have a soft spot. Oh and folks if you always wanted a pony, I highly recommend the Irish Wolfhound! My sister raises them and they all think they are lap dogs (all 150+ of them!)

My uncle's sister also bred Irish wolfhounds. A sweeter, more loving, or BIGGER baby dog could never be found! I absolutely loved them. (I think they may be part Shetland pony.)

I think you may be right Mamie! My sister has one that is in the 160 range and thinks he can "sit" in this antique chair that was my grandmother's. What he does, is he wraps his entire boddy around the chair and puts his head on the seat of "his" chair. If you choose to sit in it. He'll just do the same thing only your lap will be full of "puppy"!

I think that's the most endearing thing about them. They're like gigantic lap dogs! You can be sitting in a chair and they'll come over and plop that big ol' head in your lap and try to get as close to you as they possibly can. You have absolutely no choice in the matter - you MUST get down on the floor so you can 'hug' and 'cuddle'. They're just adorable.

I will never see a Bull Terrier and not think "Spuds Mackenzie." I don't usually like them, but I thought Rufus was adorable.

I really was expecting BIS to go to the Dalmation. He just looked like perfection.

I was truly in love with the Pug. I looked away while he was being judged. What did he do on the table when everyone reacted and said he was nervous? Just curious.

Thanks for posting the pictures of Rufus, Mamie!!!
I love all dogs, especially TERRIERS!
Norfolk and Norwich Terriers are my favorite. I also have a soft spot for Cairn, Westies, Scotties and wire hair dacsunds.
Anything with personality.
re: Westminster-
I now have a love for PBGB'S. I also adore regular Bull dogs.
The more wrinkles the better.
Dogs are the best. Someday, I will get a dog. Just not now, I would be a terrible Mommy.
(But I spoil all of my friends dogs, even my neighbors dogs)

It was an interesting group vying for BIS---while not my favorite (I go for fluffy), I called Rufus winning (and my mom didn't belkieve me---she was rooting for the pug!) And I agree, the Dalmatian was sublime in his free stack!!!

Jersey girl-me too! I usually don't like those pit bulls or bull terriors, whatever you call them-but Rufus is adorable. I was rooting for him in the last dog show I watched. I couldn't believe myself! I'm just glad a poodle didn't win for a change.

Terriers have won the most times.
re: Westminster-

(I love poodles, but not when they have painted nails and disgusting cuts) A poodle in a puppy cut is adorable.
Poodles actually are the smartest breed. Terriers are also very smart.

The breed I consider the most beautiful is supposedly a stupid breed-the irish setter.

i wouldn't say irish setters are stupid, but they can be nervous. i LOVED rufus and i picked him to win it all the moment he won his group. STAR quality. i loved everyone of those dogs though. it's great to go during the day when you can see the dogs up close. i have a soft spot for terriers as well, and working dogs of all kinds.
i thought deb turner was a good host. i enjoyed her insights as a vet. did the announcer sound a bit off this year? he bobbled just about every intro.
i grew up with a standard poodle who was very smart, sweet and compassionate. when my mother was ill he would follow her from room to room to look out for her and he eventually died two weeks before my mother of much the same ailment -- kidney failure.

the pug backed away from the judge and sat on his haunches for a bit when the judge approached him on the table. his performance was stellar in all other aspects.

I found it quite odd that there were no "foo-foo" dogs up for BIS.
That pug was sweet and that Golden!!
