What an idiot

This girl is suing her college for not getting her a job.

She can't understand why with her excellent GPA and strong attendance record she hasn't gotten a job.
It must the college's fault!

I mean, really.

And funniest of all is that her GPA is 2.7. (that's like a C) At my school, anytihng below a 3.0 and you're on probation.

You have to read some of her comments in the article to fully appreciate her utter lack of common sense.

The sense of entitlement is offensive.

Waa! I have a 2.7 GPA and no one came begging me to work for them

"The sense of entitlement is offensive."
It sure is.

re: What an idiot

So if she wins and gets her money back, can the college reclaim all the education it gave her?

What ticks me off so much is that I see a lot of my peers busting their asses to find work. Not to mention working their little tushies off to maintain at least a 3.0.
This spoiled brat wants the college to do all the work for her.

Tazber, you're exactly right.
I have a friend with a glowing academic record and superb job references who can not get a job right now because of the economy. Who is he supposed to sue?

Given the way Monroe College advertises on the NYC subway, I can't blame her for believing that. Don't their ads basically guarantee job placements?

Lots of for-profit schools are sketchy - you can get a better education for less money at CUNY. Granted, for-profits tend to be more vocationally minded, but they often aren't respected by hiring managers.

re: What an idiot

Right?
And the way she puts down jobs such as sales clerks at Payless is just so wrong. Several of my colleagues with MBAs are working similar jobs while they try to find positions in the business world. And if you ask any of them, they'll tell you they're lucky to have work.

re: Monroe College

Oh.
My.

THEY should be calling setting up interviews? REALLY? She's been looking for a job for a scant THREE months and she's disgruntled? In a GOOD economy, lots of recent grads don't get a job that fast! Has she no sense of reality -- that THOUSANDS of hard working people have LOST their jobs?

Monroe College has nothing to worry about. (Except that maybe they should review their acceptance policy!) I just hope a judge will throw the whole thing out and save everyone a lot of money.

re: Monroe College

WoW.

I graduated from college in May with a GPA 3.8
Nobody even believed I was going to get into college because of my learning disability and how it effected me.
I worked my *ss off because I wanted to prove people that I could succeed.
I have several recommendation letters that are extremely sincere.
I have volunteered throughout my life.
My resume has been checked, fixed and altered many times to make it "perfect."

Result: I've been looking for a job and have applied to more places than I can count. I continue to work at temp jobs.

Yep. That's life.

re: Monroe College

Is she serious? She acts like a 2.7 is a good thing. Even a 3.5 is considered a failure in the program I'm in.

Yeah. Let's forget there are THOUSANDS of unemployed people looking for jobs. Oh well....this article will haunt her for a good while during those job searches

They help them 'MORE OUT'?

I would LOVE to see her resume and cover letter!

re: Monroe College

What a lazy bitch, trying to make HER problem someone else's problem.

Yes, the college does offer job placement help but given the economy, didn't she think that EVERYONE is in the same spot as her - trying to find employment?

I've been out of a job since last October, oh - if you want to count my brief internship at a costume shop for a few months as a "job" then technically I've been without one since December. But it really f--king gets to me that someone would go as far as to sue a college because they can't get anywhere. I feel like finding this girl, shaking her and saying "You don't even know stress, sweetheart. You have no f--king clue."

re: Monroe College

"Monroe College has nothing to worry about."

Since the obvious moron getting national publicity is someone to whom they gave a degree, I'm not sure I agree with that statement. It makes it pretty obvious what they're about, and a lot less people might be willing to give them money now. Pity.

To quote a great film about the college experience: Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

re: Monroe College

This has to be my favorite story of the week.

A few things to for all the people entering college to learn from this:

1) A good 'attendance' record don't mean crap if you sleep during class.

2)A bachelor of business administration degree in information technology? Come on, what do you expect? She should have stayed with Musical Theatre.

3) Why sue the SCHOOL? Go for the deep pockets and sue the people who won't hire you.

4) You can't earn a degree in stupidity, Ya either got it, or ya ain't. And, boys, she's got it!

PEACE.

Q -- that's rather what I said...they have nothing to worry about with the LAWSUIT, but that they DO need to examine their entrance policies.

She'll probably add this to her resume trying to show that she's a self starter!
