Posted: 10/25/06 at 12:03amBreast milk is breast milk. Pumping is used only as a necessity. Many working mothers must pump because of the times when they are away from their babies. Normally, a mother who nurses a baby would only use a bottle because her breast is not available. If the mother and baby are one the 1 at 9:00 a.m. and a baby must be nursed, a bottle would make no sense.

Many babies never use a bottle. Bottles are used generally for formula. A nursing mother would not choose to give a baby a bottle if she can nurse the baby.
Babies do not know that they are on a Subway and a mother should disregard the embarrassment of other passengers over the health and welfare of their child.

Thanks for the info. I really do appreciate it.
But nursing mothers still make me uncomfortable.

And, I apologize for my harsh words earlier in the thread.
Le Leche League is a great source of information.

Almost everything said.
But I think one story of mine was just dreadful. First off, it was a very crowded train--I hate when people wander through it especially when it's really crowded and you hafta get outta the way as they beg for money. But it was this mother and daughter doing it. The mom was all can I have your attention. She said this whole schpeel about her life conditions and yeah...tells us her and her daughter stay at this shelter but her daughter has conjuctivitus so they were asked to leave until that passes. That's f*cking contagious! So her and her daughter are walking all through the train, possibly spreading that f*cking pink eye everywhere. Fortunately, I didn't get it. But I was pissed.
ETA: Oh, one more incident than just stood out. One homeless guy made his speech, and no one gave and he said something like ladies and gentlemen I will have you know that when times were good and I was in the money I gave money to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who asked/begged. Biggest lodacrap I ever heard.

People who will run you over to get to an empty seat.
I also hate those people that will get on an obviously packed train and will wander from one end to the other looking for an empty seat. Do they think that all the people standing in the crowded train are doing so because they like it?

Thank you stagemanager. I like to think so. (I thought I was being quite tame compared to some of the other comments in this thread that I loved--didn't even include the story of the blind beggar who wandered throughout the train knocking into everything and everyone--I thought that might have been pushing, but apparently I was in the first place--go figure).
"Ha, he gave to every single person who asked and look where he is now. We should all learn from this"
HAHAHA Skittles!
I'm gonna hafta use that quote in something...a signature, my profile for a bit...that's okay right? Brilliant logic.
