For me that would be clipping their finger nails, popping gum and eating.
I can't decide which is worse. The gum popping or the nail clipping. The sound of the gum popping is annoying but at least you aren't leaving your DNA just strewn about. I don't understand why people think it is perfectly fine to clip their finger nails on the train or anywhere in public for that fact. Not only is the sound of the clippers annoying, it's just gross. And they just leave their nail clippings where ever they fall. I clip my finger nails at home in the bathroom over the toilet or a trash can.

Tho I do hate nail clipping in public...a BIG pet peeve.
Another is littering...anywhere...in a city full of garbage cans.
And backpacks should not be allowed on public transportation.

I hate just about anything humans do in public. Just existing can often be enough to send me into a white rage.
But, that aside...I really hate it when those ghetto queens get up in a train with their goddamn Popeye's (Kennedy's/Church's) fried chicken boxes and eat the sh*t in the middle of rush hour.
And people who smell bad.
And the homeless people...someone should tell them to jump in *front* of the train, not enter it. No, Homeless Henry, I do NOT have any spare change...for you. I don't CARE if you sing me some awful off-key spiritual. I still want you to go away. And take your odiferous con-trail with you.
Also, yuppie bitches who feel the need to bring their strollers on the train during rush hour. STOP IT. WE don't need to suffer from YOUR choice to throw your legs in the air and have a brat...if you can afford to have an all-terrain stroller and an Elie Tahari wardrobe, you can damn well afford to stick it in a damn taxi if you need to get it to daycare at 7:30 am before you head to your office.

She had the nerve to complain when I pushed past her, whacking her with my bag.

I'm going to name two out of a hundred that bother me. First, people who take up more than one seat, either by placing their bags along side of them, or those guys who spread their legs out so that you can't sit next to them without having to brush against their legs.
Second as Elphaba said, those singing groups. There's one group who keeps singing the same doowop song, I think it's "There goes my Baby". They haven't changed the song in about a year. I don't want to hear a loud singing group on the subway, even if they are Il Divo. And the bongo drum players! ugh. I change cars when they're on board.

The bongo drum players ALWAYS come on the A train during afternoon rush hour, it seems, when everyone already has a headache from work. And they get on at 59th Street, so you're stuck with them during that long stretch to 125th. What bugs me even more are the people who bob their heads and pretend to enjoy it. Don't encourage that arrhythmical cacophony!
eta: And not to mention the dancing kids who try to do breakdance crap in the middle of the subway. One fell on my lap one time while trying to do a handstand.

Besides nail painting, toenail clipping, etc..
People (it's not limited to women) who don't fold strollers while on the train, especially during morning rush hour.
People who start entering the car before even one person has exited.
And also people who are waiting until everyone has exited before entering, which is nice, but they are waiting right smack dab in front of the freakin' doors, so that I have to accidentally hit you with my bag, elbow and shoe when walking by you on my way off the train.
Tourists. I love visitors, I hate tourists. Don't pick in front of the turnstile as your family meeting place, so that no one else can walk through. Don't stop at the top of the stairs to open up your map, so that no one else can walk up/down. Don't complain about all of the people walking in the way of your perfect picture taking shot when you're trying to take said picture at 9am at the entrance to the Times Square station, or at 5pm in the middle of Grand Central, or at some other such time- yes, people will be walking by in NYC during rush hour, imagine that! Ugh.

I hate most people too, but never more than on the morning or afternoon commute.

A week ago, I was going to work, and literally this woman didn't know how to work the ticket machine and she had to buy all these one day passes for her and her 3 little rats... with cash. She didn't know what to do and I offered to do it for her, but she said she was "getting the hang of it."
No, lady, not when all of NY is waiting behind you at 10am.

Panhandling! I don't mind it so bad when I am on the street, but it is really uncomfortable when you are confined on the subway car and someone comes in and tries to pressure you into giving them money.

People who beg for money while still looking pretty good for being "homeless." Orangeskittles and I were on the subway when some guy gave a speech about needing money for his wife and kids, all while wearing extremely nice jeans, nice shoes, munching on a bag of Doritos, and lacking a wedding ring (yes, I acknowledge the remote possibility that they couldn't afford it). I mean, at least make the effort to look poor.
