Oh, and I almost forgot about Elektra, Man of the House, and X: State of the Union.
Are most of you who have seen 7 dreadful movies so far this year alone the types who dig flop musicals as well? Or do you just go see anything regardless of quality? (I'm just curious, since I only go see movies that I think I will enjoy unless a friend cons me into it, and I don't enjoy crappy movies.)
No. Actually, I get free tickets, so must of the stuff that I see I hope to be good. Other things, like Alone in the Dark, I put myself through just to see it.
Example: I didn't expect White Noise, which had one of the creepiest trailers I've seen, to be so horrendous.
No contest.
The Dukes of Hazzard
(I can't believe only one other person mentioned this. I think it's the worst movie I have ever seen)

They all stink!
I HATE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I second Dukes of Hazzard! Sooooooo bad.
'Stealth' by leaps and bounds. It is uniquely horrible.
Exorcism of Emily Rose...ugh!
Elektra. It was even worse than Daredevil, and that's saying something.

War of the Worlds. I've only seen a few movies this year, but that wasn't good at all. Bewitched wasn't very good, either, but I was expecting it to be much worse than it was, so when I saw it, I wasn't underwhelmed. It still wasn't very good, though. Honestly, I only went to it because I heard the Rent trailer was on it, which it was.
Exorcism of Emily Rose...ugh!
Really?
First Daughter
Sin City (without a doubt, the WORST I've seen this year)
Alexander
White Noise
I didn't see the American remake of Dark Water, but the original was not that great to begin with, so I didn't bother.
My vote has to go to War Of The Worlds. Ugh, what a pile that was.
Mister Matt, you really hated Sin City that much??
Yes. I saw it for $2.50 and felt ripped off. It was torture.
SIN CITY worst of the year? I think it's among the best - I thought it was fantastic.
I didn't think ...EMILY ROSE was amazing, but I was pleasantly surprised and I would definitely recommend it.
THE SKELETON KEY is up there, as well.
EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED also sucked, but probably doesn't qualify as the worst.
HIGH TENSION also deserves a special crap award.
Oh well to each his own. I payed to see Sin City twice.
I definitly was not a fan of Ring 2 either. Although the scene with the bucks scared the piss outta me, I've hit one too many deers or been in deer related car things. I'm proud of myself though, for once I've been able to steer myself clear of movies I thought were just going to smell.
I think I have only seen two movies that came out this year, and both were simply an homage to my youth Star Wars and Batman Begins, both were far from good, yet I'm sure not the worst of the year.
Like FIGHT CLUB, baby?
Sin City (without a doubt, the WORST I've seen this year)
Hmmm... In my book, it's one of the best of the year. Mickey Rourke is still my choice for supporting actor.
I thought ...Emily Rose was very fascinating and creepy. Very intelligently made, and with a couple of great performances.
I dunno, I definitely wasn't impressed with Emily Rose. I nearly fell asleep repeatedly.
Honestly, I could not find a single redeeming quality in Sin City. Not one. I thought it would be interesting and cool and visually stimulating. I just thought it was an uninteresting mess of gratuitous violence devoid of meaning. It was style over substance for those who enjoyed the graphic novel, I guess. I also hated Pulp Fiction and Fight Club, but at least I got the message behind those. I know why people think they are good and/or special even if they are not my thing. I could not find anything in Sin City worthy of praise. It was like trying to find nutritional value in a pool of vomit.
lol, nice on the pool of vomit line. You are right. I don't think there was a message behind Sin City, of course then I don't think they wanted or were going that route, ala Fight Club and Pulp Fiction. I saw Sin City for what it was. 3 ass kicking stories in an ultra violent neo-film noir style for the 21st century. It's entertainment but it's well presented entertainment and thats what sets it aside from falling into a X or whatever movie Vin Diesel is making quality.
I agree with everything you said, Carl.
Matt- You hated Pulp Fiction?!?! I... I...

I watched Monster-In-Law on a recent flight (the only way I'd ever see a JLo movie.)
Totally mindless, and typically formulaic. Will JLo EVER make a movie that doesn't follow the exact same blueprint?
Yeah, I hated Pulp Fiction. Everyone said it was funny. I just don't find violence humorous. At all. I do think it was well-written and well-directed, for what it was, but I was not a fan of its content or style. I can handle violent films, but not when the violence itself, when presented realistically, is meant strictly to entertain. That bothers me.
