Felicity!!!

See Keri Russell in all her big hair glory, some of her decisions now make a lot of sense when you realize she was always a Russian Spy

Check out the BBC SHERLOCK series with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman if you haven't already. Highly recommended -- fast and funny and truer to the Conan Doyle original than you might think, and even oddly moving. The final episode of the second series (THE REICHENBACH FALL) is a treat for the ages.

BACHELORETTE--film adaptation of Leslye Headland's play featuring great comedic work from Kirsten Dunst (career-best performance), Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher, and Rebel Wilson.

TOP OF THE LAKE, for sure. I binge-watched it in a day.

THE DEAD--John Huston's beautiful film of the Joyce story was just added.

If you're a fan of THE GOOD WIFE, I recommend Julianna Margulies' previous legal series, CANTERBURY'S LAW, which is only six episodes long and available in its entirety. An excellent, underrated show.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I absolutely loved BACHELORETTE. It made me 100 times more pissed for missing the stage production.

Also, just watched YOUNG ADULT again on Instant a few nights ago and I just fell head over heels in love with it all over again. How in the hell was Charlize not nominated for an Oscar?! Such a good movie.

I've heard TOP OF THE LAKE is good, but really, really slow. I'll give it a chance though!

I tend to pick themes. It usually comes by accident, like I add a movie and it recommends others on the same topic. Once between streaming and DVDs, I watched every adaptation of Les Miserables available. Currently, I'm watching documentaries. In the past week, I've watched Waiting for Superman, Queen of Versailles and First Position. Next is How to Survive a Plague.

I've found the best thing to do is just start adding. Any recommendations on the site that look remotely interesting, I add to the queue for a rainy day. Sure, there are some clunkers, but for $7.99/month, you can watch 20 bad movies and it's still no more than a waste of time.

"House of Cards is worth the investment of time. Robin Wright gives a great performance, Kevin Spacey has nothing to be ashamed about either."

Yep, I watched the first season's episodes 3x. Gotta shout-out Kate Mara for delivering the goods as well.

Twin Peaks! Things start to fall apart in season 2 after Laura Palmer's murderer is revealed. But the first season is one of my favorites of all time.

I can't recommend Top of the Lake highly enough. I suppose the early episodes could be called slow, but I think you can handle it WickedRocks. I think it's instantly compelling.

Netflix's latest original series Hemlock Grove is kinda absolutely awful--but I admit I couldn't stop watching although it IS oddly slow. A supernatural soap with some good (and not so good) actors like Lily Taylor having to deliver some of the most ridiculous dialogue ever (these people like to talk about their balls a lot--ie "This place is weird, I feel it in my balls" and to use the word c*nt a lot.) It sorta wants to be True Blood meets Twilight meets Twin Peaks--or something, but has so many random dropped characters and subplots it's strange that it was released with all 13 episodes at once and not retooled due to low ratings.

It also kinda has a misogynistic streak, and 5 dream/nightmare scenes per episode. But unlike True Blood which even at its worst, IMHO, goes all out and unabashedly throws everything into the mix, this is also oddly subdued. Did I mention I couldn't stop watching? But I have a hard time recommending it--it's pretty terrible/ Cool werewolf transformation, though.

Pontypool is a really smart and relevant horror film. A shock jock news radio type breaks the news of the zombie apocalypse and unintentionally puts his listeners in harm's way. He winds up quickly being the only newsman standing. The entire film takes place in one room of the radio station and the effect is very strong. It's all about linguistics and media dissemination and hive mind and all that good stuff.

An expiring contract for Netflix means the streaming video service will lose 1,794 pieces of content, according to Mashable. Netflix’s agreement with Warner Bros., MGM, and Universal expired Wednesday, meaning customers will lose the ability to watch such morsels as Cruel Intentions and Big Daddy.
