A Christmas Story and It's A Wonderful Life. Bigfatblonde- I agree!! That movie sounds great. I must check it out.
I just bought one of my favorite childhood Christmas programs, "The Christmas Toy" on DVD. I was so excited!
Remember the Night is a little known gem of a film that deserves to be transferred to DVD. Every moment in the film is wonderful:
That defense lawyer scene in the beginning, when he attempts the "hypnotism" defense to defend petty thief Lee. His histrionics toward the jury make for a wonderfully comic scene
Barbara Stanwyck saying to Fred MacMurray "one of these days, one of you guys is going to start one of these scenes in a new way, and one of us girls is going to drop dead from surprise"
The aforementioned scene the BFB described when Lee goes to see her mother. Chilling.
And my favorite moment...when Lee is at MacMurray's family home, and they are sitting around, singing "at the end of the day" and Lee is looking around, senses the family and love in the room and begins to cry. Powerful film moment.
It's coming up on TCM this week!!! Saturday at 3pm (west coast time)Set your DVR's to catch it, cause you won't regret it.

A Christmas Story and Home Alone are high up there as favorites.. but my top will probably be Scrooged with Bill Murray.. man that movie is freaking hilarious!
I have 3 that are must-sees at Christmastime
I'm with besty...Scrooge w/Albert Finney and that glorious Bricusse score!
PRANCER, along with my friend Iflitfloat.
I saw Scrooge with Finney just two nights ago. Didn't love the score except the song at the end where Scrooge becomes a new man (don't know the exact title).
Liked Thank You Very Much, Mister Santa, and whatever the ballad was called.
In addition to some of the other classics already listed, I really like The Bishop's Wife. And Bad Santa.
Elf
Christmas Vacation
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Muppet Family Christmas
March of the Wooden Soldiers
"Happiness"...LOVE that song! Also "Christmas Children".
Oh yeah, I also forgot about Gremlins. It totally counts because the whole film takes place around Christmas.
For my family and I it's Christmas Vacation all the way. We can watch that again and again. I also do really like Elf and A Christmas Story. There are some great movies set around Christmas time.
My problem with Scrooge has always been Albert Finney. He's too young. Meanwhile, his nephew is too old, and Mrs. Cratchit is too old, as well. But Finney just comes off like a young guy, playing old. His entire performance is pinched. I do love the title song, which is heard in part, here:

I couldnt disagree more. I love him in the role. He was nom'd for a couple of awards for this and won the GG. I dont see any difference in age with the Cratchits, either.
The man who plays his nephew actually wrote the script.
There is no title number, but I assume you mean "A Christmas Carol" which is wonderful. I love that whole sequence, especially the bell ringers.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol. It's definitely the best one I've seen; he's absolutely fantastic in the role, and it was the first time I was honest-to-God creeped out by Marley's ghost.
You didn't have to assume what I meant, since I included it in my post. What I call a "title number", is the music that plays under the titles. The credits.
There are so many I love, but my new favorite is The Family Stone.
Honorable mentions:
A Christmas Carol (1951)
A Christmas Story
Mixed Nuts
The Ref
Home Alone 2
Christmas Vacation
Scrooge
White Christmas
While You Were Sleeping
Scrooged
Miracle on 34th Street (both versions)
