I have to log in on the "its human" bandwagon.
Very emotional ties just have unforeseen consequences.
Hopefully the feelings will ease.
Also, papa may have a point. when the ex moves on...

A note on the nauseous/nauseated comment, the statement that colleen used it in an inappropriate way is not true.

Webster's:
nauseous
Main Entry:
nau·seous Listen to the pronunciation of nauseous Listen to the pronunciation of nauseous
Pronunciation:
ˈnȯ-shəs, ˈnȯ-zē-əs
Function:
adjective
Date:
1612

1 : causing nausea or disgust : nauseating 2 : affected with nausea or disgust
— nau·seous·ly adverb
— nau·seous·ness noun
usage Those who insist that nauseous can properly be used only in sense 1 and that in sense 2 it is an error for nauseated are mistaken. Current evidence shows these facts: nauseous is most frequently used to mean physically affected with nausea, usually after a linking verb such as feel or become; figurative use is quite a bit less frequent. Use of nauseous in sense 1 is much more often figurative than literal, and this use appears to be losing ground to nauseating. Nauseated is used more widely than nauseous in sense 2.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I agree with papa!!! Though we may seem harsh, it is the best way to go. My ex was "getting divorced" for 2 years- he was legally separated that whole time. When I finally cut him loose, he did get that divorce....too late. He wrote, called, emailed- I didn't want anything to do with him. He was with someone new and engaged in about 6 months. There were many problems in the relationship beyond the divorce issue, but I don't want to go on and on with all those stories. I figured the next guy could only be better- and she can have my old headaches.

Thing I worked out for myself last night:

I think what is upsetting me most is knowing he's just not there anymore. Even after we first broke up and weren't speaking, I always knew that if something really bad happened and I called him, he would be there. Now I'm not so sure. I feel like I'm losing a best friend.

Second, I am romantically frustrated right now, and for that reason I don't want him to be satisfied in that area. Since moving to Florida I have not met a single guy I would even consider an interest. It's hard to meet single guys down here anyway, but most of the guys I do meet are pretty...trashy? I don't know, just not my type. I'm fairly picky and I like my men clean, educated, and responsible. And the fact that I've been here four months and haven't met a single person I'd even consider going on a date with frightens me.

I didn't sleep last night. This has made me feel very anxious. Work has been very high stress lately, and as a result I have been at my emotional limit for the past week, and this was just the last piece I needed to topple the tower.

Well, Mister Matts rant hasn't been set to music, but this is close:

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali
