Women can spritz and do the walk-thru because of the tendency to have longer hair.
There's a book called "Survival of the Prettiest" which talks about the erotic nature of a woman's hair, and how scent plays into that.
Anyway, I spray my wrists and neck- and never rub my wrists together. It crushes the notes of the fragrance. (Bit of a fragrance junkie here.)
