Anyone catch it? I didn't think it was horrible. Deborah Cox's vocals were insanely great and I think Yaya did a fine job.

I didn't think it was horrible, either, just dreadfully dull. It was well directed and looked better than any Lifetime movie in recent memory, though, so I hope to see more directing efforts from Angela Bassett.

Completely agree. I'd love to see more from Angela. One day, I think we will get a phenomenal biopic of Whitney on the big screen. Or at least I hope.

It wasn't bad just not that entertaining.
At times, Yaya da Costa read more Tyra than Whitney on screen to me. That was the danger of a biopic timed so close to Whitney's departure.
I also would have preferred a shorter and more rugged looking actor cast as Bobby Brown. In heels, Whitney appeared to tower over Bobby which perhaps dealt his ego an even larger blow as her fame would quickly eclipse his.
The biopic didn't tap into her fans' visceral dislike of him from the start due to the couple's optics as well as his background. In short, they didn't look good together and they seemed to bring out the worst in each other. The biopic all but beatified Bobby in advance.

Yeah, it was kinda boring, but I do applaud it for going against the grain by dramatizing the (reportedly true)fact that it was Whitney who turned Bobby onto cocaine and not the other way around.

It was respectable but dull at points. They didn't have the money to do an amazing film. If the family gets their bio film, it will a Selena type sanitized affair with her songs and it will be very glossy. The definitive book and film wont happen until after the family is dead.

Javero, what is Cherrelle's relationship to Whitney? I wouldn't think she would have the money or status to be involved in a Whitney bio? Years ago, (maybe 2000) she was doing gospel plays with Jennifer Holiday. Quite a step down, from her Saturday Love days. I only say this, because I volunteered at the play and she was quite nasty to the staff.

No judgment here. According to several accounts both women lived with Whitney for lengthy stretches. Goes back to the age-old saying that you don't know a person until you live with him or her. Sexuality aside, both their involvements in Whitney's life, including her business affairs, were very polemical. While Cherrelle and Whitney allegedly shared a place in the Atlanta-area, there was a persistent rumor that is so tawdry I would not dare publish it here, for fear of libel charges.
Former Los Angeles drug kingpin Dana Gold claims that Cherrelle and he were married back in the 80s; deets at the jump. I feel like I've reached a new low for posting this info.

Deborah Cox's vocals were incredible- Her I Will Always Love You was moving and eye watering- especially with Yaya's Acting

Yeah, I forgot to add earlier that Deborah Cox's vocals were the highlight of the biopic to me. She did a bang-up job on I'm Your Baby Tonight as well. The songs were placed impeccably throughout.
