Last December, I had my tarot cards read. The woman told me that I would be starting a new job in the next few weeks (which I did in mid-January). She also said that I would meet a potential mate by September. Well, it's mid-August already and, so far, nothing.
What has/have been your experience(s)?
do not go to people who have signs out "claiming" to be psychic. try to find a reputable place. near where i live is the "awareness shop" new paltz, ny. http://www.waningmoon.com/guide/content/listings/6.shtml
the pagan resource guide can help you find a place near you

I like how the psychic asks her why she's come, when she should already know, being a psychic and all.
I have been to quite a few over the years.( I myself am more than competent tarot card reader) Only one had the honesty to say @ the start she couldn't "read" me. She also didn't charge me so I suspect she has the gift and respects its limits. The BEST reader i had eventually stopped doing it as she became head of the Wiccan Church of Canada and was simply overwhelmed w her other spiritual obligations but she was SPOT ON esp w a very difficult problem I was having then. A good friend of mine is also into the Spirtualist religion and I have gone to any number of "message" nights. None of the "messages" were ever relevant ( @ least to me) My OWN Tarot readings are actually quite acurate for myself and others, I was taught by a "retired" Romany/Traveller.
U have to be careful - alot of readers read the client not the cards ( think "psychic poker") IF they start out w the phrase "You are going through a change or changes" scamper- U are being "scammed" ( The Romany phrase is "doukour")
Would you read my cards, sabrelady?
At first glance, I thought your name was soberlady.
I was, like, good for her!

There was a great SVU episode last week about a psychic who was trying to solve a kidnapping case. Martin Short was the psychic. Anyway, BD Wong was analyzing him and discovered that he wasn't psychic at all, but had studied Facial Action Quoting System.
"Facial Action Quoting System defines every conceivable human facial expression as one of 46 "Action Units," each of which is a contraction or a relaxation of one or more muscles on the face. As displayed by the character on the show, reading facial emotions can help get at the actual emotion, but not the source of the emotion within the person."
So, many psychics aren't psychic at all. They're just reading your face and asking leading questions to see your reponse. Maybe the psychic saw on your face that you wanted to meet someone or saw certain expressions when they/you brought up the topic of meeting someone?
This is an interesting topic...
I think Moxie's got something with the Facial Action Quoting System. I'm studying facial microexpressions right now, and once you're looking for them, they're surprisingly revealing.
But one of my friends told me I had a long "money" line and a short "life" line. Yikes. Are tarot cards supposed to be more/less accurate than palm reading?

I studied non-verbal/interpersonal communication styles as part of my communication program in school and want to learn more abour FAQS. I am really, really interested in stuff like this. I've started incoporating this stuff into my workshops.
You'd be amazed at how we can figure out a person and whether or not their being deceptive just by their facial expressions and body language. Sadly, I even watch that god-awful "Angela's Eyes" on Lifetime to pick up some info.
I LOVED Martin Short in this role as the psychic. I was shocked at how well he played evil.
I actually didn't say much. I just let her talk and tried to remain expressionless; I didn't want to lead her on by seeming too surprised or pleased by what she had to say.
BTW: It was a birthday gift.

At my old job, we had a psychic at our Halloween party. Just for fun, I asked if I would find "the man of my dreams". She suggested I check the internet for "those dating sites". :)! Don't think she was that good as I WASN'T looking for a man at all. Quite the opposite.
My old home was turned into a business - psychics/palm readings! I know at least one of my relatives is doin' a 360 in her grave about now. :)
me and my friends went to one that we now refer to as "madam orange-long-and-scary-nails" at six flags. she charged $6 and wan't very good x_X

When you're in the presence of a real one, you'll know it.
There won't be any question in your mind.
I had one scream out my past, present and future before I could even ask a question. Answered all my questions before I could ask one.
I went as an unknown walk-in in tee shirt, shorts and flip-flops. She barely spoke English and her voice was loud because she was so surprised at what she "saw" for me.
wow i recently went to a psychic!
she said
- that I had severe emotional pain that would eventually take over my life. (kind of true....I mean I do have problems...just not to the extent that she says I do)
- That I would have 2 major life altering relationships. (haven't had any yet...)
-that I was a witch in another lifetime. (...)
- that I was gonna get a new job. (I just had an interview last week for a new one)
- that I am way too serious at times and that can put people off. (hate to admit it but yeah it's true)
-that I was a healer (I'm going into the health profession)
My ex dragged me to one, and she told us that we had been brothers -- in some sort of family performing act -- in a former lifetime. That grossed me out. Unless we were the Brothers D'Armano.
I forgot to mention that she also said I was hanged in a past life for my political views. Apparently, I was some type of revolutionary and was hanged in a public square. She said that's why I've been afraid to speak my voice in this life. Well, for all of my childhood and most of my youth, I WAS very introverted and had tremendous stage fright. I always attributed that to my life experiences.
The weird thing was that I'd just been to the Salem Witch Museum where they re-enact the trials, and when they got to the minister who started to recite the Lord's prayer at Gallow's Hill to prove that he was not a witch, I got teary eyed. It surprised me how emotional I became while watching a re-enactment of a public hanging.
maybe you were that minister. i love salem. i have a day planned tehre in october.

There was a psychic at my brother's birthday party about four years ago and she told me I was going to give birth to two boys by the time I was nineteen. I'll be nineteen in about two months, so I don't think that's going to happen.
EDIT: fix spelling mistake
Dabadoll you better get really busy.
Dabadoll, you still have your entire 19th year. I'm sure you can produce a baby (or two) in that time. You won't be 20 for another 14 months.

I guess if I have preemies (knock on wood). I myself was two weeks premature. The doctors were afraid my parents would overreact.
You could also bear twins.

If she screamed out your past, present and future, we can assume the session is still going on, then?

She said it wasn't going to be twins. Two different births.
