the coach makes the state or university a lot of money by coaching and picking the players for the teams. its no diff then tom hanks getting paid a lot of money because he puts derrieres in the seats.

who would pay for that erik? most likely the students when their tuition is raised, or the citizens when their taxes are...
anyway, the science dept is probably funded at least in part by the money the sports teams make.

that may be but universities are forever saying that the money they get from these sports, support other programs. from what i understand, the money goes from the mens football and basketball team to other sports like womens title 9 programs, and things like lacrosse, fencing and less popular sports.
if you knew what my dad was paying for my tuition, it would make your head spin. these sports help with tuition and aid too

Posted: 5/10/13 at 3:21pmthe school gives them the opportunity to get into a university they probably had no chance getting into. due to finances or bad grades. what they do with that is up to them. if they work hard and study, they will get a great education they would not have gotten, if they party hearty or are lazy, well thats their fault.

Irrelevant. I'm talking about not being able to have enough faculty members, equipment, resources because the football team needs to win the SEC title once in a while.
Imagine if he got just 1 million instead of 2. How many jobs, books, technology could be brought with 1 million a year?
