Posted: 5/10/13 at 3:48pmBut again, does it have a football program that takes a lot of money? It's passable enough that football stars get scholarships and benefits out the wazoo, but to have every other program not receive better resources because maybe they'll win the title this year and maybe two will make it big in the NFL... Yes, the esteem of going to school with a great football team brings some students in, but that's not enough if the school does not, to the best of its ability, teach them well.

We could talk about the hierachy within a university forever,
but let's look at how a football coach gets paid more than any other public official in the state.

I'm going to side with Sue here- it is capitalism at work and there is nothing wrong with a college expending $5 Million dollars to engage a good coach.
Except...is putting up a great sports team the ultimate goal of a University? For these schools it is, apparently. This graphic shows you the priorities- and the priority is football and basketball. If that's what mattered to my college, I'd transfer.

Posted: 5/10/13 at 6:04pmThe legacy of Penn State should have encouraged the university system to get its priorities straight. But alas, no.

Posted: 5/10/13 at 6:51pmReally W? You expect a freshman just out of HS to pay her own tuition? That's what being a family is. Cuz it doesn't take a village to raise a child just a family with values.

I see she's posted a picture of herself in her stripper outfit.
Sue, Is that how you were going to pay for your college education until your father found out?
And I paid for my college education myself, right out of high school. People who don't depend on daddy for everything tend to do that.

And by that Gif our assumption of how you get your pocket money is confirmed!
Sue, I went to a leading art colege in the US with NO help from my parents what so-ever, I got scholarships, worked full time during the entire year and took out student loans. Many of us did, it is called not being entitled.

When I got my undergrad, I got the Hope scholarship (students in a public school get tuition paid practically in full if a B average or higher is achieved in high school and kept in college). It's paid for by the lottery, mostly.
Other than that, I would have had to pay myself and do a work-study or just not go full-time and hopefully find a "real world" job to help.

"if you knew what my dad was paying for my tuition, it would make your head spin."
Your dad might as well just flush his money down the toilet because from your posts you aren't learning a damn thing. You can't even write a cohesive sentence let alone use proper punctuation.

Posted: 5/13/13 at 1:02pmIMO, it's fine to be in a situation where a parent can pay. It's not, however, superior to people who had to work for it themselves. It's not even more impressive. It's just different.
