Why 'Chicken of the Sea'?

"Tuna of the Land"
OK, you're disrupting my coworkers by making me cackle aloud, Aigoo.

I don't know how I thought of this...I think it was due to an impromptu prompt for speech team. My topic was "chicken" and I couldn't think of a last point. So voila, Chicken of the Sea. I think I somehow related it to tuna's inability to speak for themselves, and the company that started the brandname "Chicken of the Sea" would have PETA all over their ass. And...PETA....people...are nearly as rabid as Jesse McCartney fans (Wicked fans, for you theatre peoples...with no connection to the "outside world" whatsoever
). So yeah...it was an interesting speech lemme tell ya.

Posted: 9/26/05 at 5:32pmPerhaps the marketing gurus assume that everyone knows what a chicken is, and might be lured in to the vast depts of say fish, by calling tuna, CHICKEN OF THE SEA! Yay. At least youre aware it's tuna, Aigoo.

The name confused Jessica Simpson a while back; she wasn't sure whether she was eating chicken or tuna out of the can . . . but this webpage explains all, including why the company chose its name:

Posted: 9/26/05 at 11:09pmIt tastes similar to chicken?! I've had tuna once in my life (love the smell, hate the taste) and it tasted NOTHING like chicken. ::scoff:: I was hoping for a much better explanation than that.

So aigoo likes to smell tuna?
That's a nice little hobbie, I think we need a "tuna-smellers anonymous" for people like you...
